Kingpins Pro Bowling Team

As we look ahead to Season 6 we’d like to give a huge shoutout to those players who have moved on: Jenn Schwartz, Shawn Schwartz, Coral Nichols and Shelby Chrest. We would also like to give a huge thank you to the man himself, Robert Gallaugher, as he moves on to a new role enforcing Fair Play for the 5PL this season!

The dedication of these competitors is a key part of why our team has been so successful over the past five seasons. We are thankful for their commitment to the Kingpins from the get go and look forward to seeing what they get up to next.

Well, it’s been a few days now and have had time to reflect on the KINGPINS Performance last Sunday in the Schwartz Division Final and Pro League Championship!
First, our battle with the Crushers. In the previous 4 years, the Crushers had our number, but this year in League play, we got by them 7-1 in a closer match than the score indicates! So to meet them in the Playoffs, we knew they were out for revenge! We also knew that they have recent National Champions on their squad and we were in for a battle. Our team came out battling and managed a 1365 to 1250 and a 7-1 win! Game 2, they rebounded well with a 7-1 win in their favour shooting 1423 to our 1283. Now it’s down to 1 match and it came to the 10th frame before 4 of the 5 matches were decided. As they threw an impressive 1357, it wasn’t quite the finish your Kingpins had with an outstanding 1502 total and a 6-2 victory!
We were now off to the League Championship against the Avalanche out of Winnipeg Manitoba. In the past I believe we had 1 win each against each other. The first 2 matches were similar to the Crushers matches as we posted a 7-1 win in game 1 and they returned the same score in game 2. So game 3 came down to the 10th and with 2 players to go, we were up 2 matches to 1 and 1 Point in Total! Absolutely crazy how close it was, but as our final 2 players threw 30 pts each in the 10th, which is normally good, it wasn’t on this day as they threw 43 & 45! So the Final was 5-3 as they shot 1531 to our 1467! Yes, we averaged 293 per player and it wasn’t good enough! An Amazing job by both teams and the Kingpins would like to Congratulate the Avalanche on their outstanding performance!!

Over the 6 games, we played that day, our team averaged 272 per player! Outstanding in my books!

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, the time is getting ever so close to find out which team is #1 for the 2025/26 5Pin Pro League!

It happens this Sunday starting at 9AM as Your KINGPINS out of Heritage Lanes in Red Deer take on the Crushers of Sherwood Bowl to decide the Schwartz Building Division Champion!

The Winner then moves on to take on the Cargill Division Champs, the Avalanche out of Manitoba! That Match will start at approximately 12 Noon!

So KINGPIN Fans come on down to Heritage and cheer us on as we try to get the job done!

Well, the wait is a little longer, but we do have a date and an opponet!
The date is July 12@ 9am and the opponent is our friends from Sherwood, THE CRUSHERS!
We had a thrilling match with the Crushers during regular season play, so I’m sure our Division Championship will b No different!
Come on down to Heritage Lanes and cheer on Red Deer’s own KINGPINS on July 12! We would love the support!

So what a day for your KINGPINS! Went into Sunday knowing we were going up against one of the Top Teams in the 5PL , the Rock N Rollers of Newfoundland , but we were confident that we could play with them at this level! We came out strong and things were looking OK, until Mr. Headpin showed up ! We did manage to throw our season average, but it wasn’t good enough against this fine Pro Team and we fell 6-2! We now know we have to at least win 6-2 to force a game 3, so with our season on the line we stayed right with them until they ran into headpin problems like we did in the first match and we took advantage and finished well to come out with a 7-1 Victory, therefore no game 3 needed. So we won the points total 9-7 and now onto the Schwartz Division Championship against either the Crushers or the NextGen! Stay tuned for when our matches will start!

So proud to be part of this Fun Great Team! Over the last couple of years, even though we live far apart, I believe we have all become not only teammates, but pretty good friends!!
