What a great weekend in St. Paul for Rural Provincials! For the first time in recent memory, Battle River Soccer Association was represented by both boys’ and girls’ teams from U13 through U17.
Thorsby Soccer Club - Group is proud to have contributed the majority of players and coaches at the U13 Girls, U15 Boys, and U15 Girls levels. Every team played hard, faced strong competition, and pushed through challenging conditions. Congratulations to all the competitors on a fantastic experience! ⚽👏

Team Spotlight: Battle River Valkyries U11/U13 Girls
What an incredible inaugural season for the Battle River Valkyries U11/U13 Girls! This talented group brought together players from across the Battle River Soccer Association to form a district team while continuing to compete with their local rec league teams.
The Valkyries showed determination, teamwork, and grit throughout the season, competing in tournaments in Lacombe and Beaumont, as well as exhibition games. Battling through tough, wet conditions, they proudly brought home silver in Lacombe — a fantastic accomplishment in their first season together!
A huge thanks to their sponsors, Chad Bablitz of Triple C Ranch and Kevin Bablitz of Bulldog Bobcat Service! The community support means so much.
Next up, the team will represent Battle River at provincials from July 3–5 in St. Paul. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families on an amazing season so far.

A huge shoutout to the U11-1 Barrett team for bringing home gold at the Devon Daze tournament! 🥇
This incredible event featured nearly 50 teams from across the region, and Thorsby made its mark by sending six teams—and returning with an impressive 4 medals! 👏
Highlights include:

🥇 U11-1 Barrett – Gold medal champions
🥉 U9-1 Barnes – Bronze medal finish
🥉 U13 Nichols & U15-1 Lehman – Both battling back in dramatic style with a late 2-goal comeback and an overtime victory

Special recognition as well to U9-2 Dumont and U9-3 Giroux for their determination and competitive spirit against tough opponents. 💪
