Your work can be deeply fulfilling but it was never meant to carry the full weight of your happiness.

I understand that more now than I ever have.

We ask a lot of our work.
Purpose.
Identity.
Recognition.
Belonging.
Confidence.
Meaning.

I talk a lot about these things.

I believe work should matter. I’ve spent almost three decades thinking about how we make it better but your career cannot be responsible for making your whole life feel good.

There has to be something beyond the title, the next opportunity, the achievement, the applause.

People you love.
Things you enjoy for no productive reason whatsoever.
Rest.
Laughter.
Curiosity.
Experiences that remind you that you are a person before you are a professional.

I am quietly ambitious. Always have been. I love my work and I still have a lot I want to build, contribute and achieve.

One of the biggest shifts for me has been this:
I no longer want work to be the best thing about my life.

I want it to be part of a life I love.

Lead well. Live fully.

Sometimes the decision that gives you peace is the one that makes the least sense on paper.

I knew how to go back. I knew how to succeed there. I knew how to build another version of the life I already had.

What I didn’t know was what would happen if I chose something different.

So I did.

I didn’t have it all figured out, but I knew I didn’t want familiarity to make the decision for me.

Sonewhere between the uncertainty and the unknown, I found peace.

Maybe that’s what self-trust looks like sometimes.

Not knowing exactly where the road leads.

Just knowing you’re no longer willing to take the old one simply because you know the way.

For a long time, I confused being taken seriously with looking serious.

So yes, I posted the pool video because nearly three decades of experience doesn’t disappear just because I’m laughing, being playful, dressing up, taking daily mirror selfies, trying something new or having a great time on vacation.

I know what I know.
I’ve earned what I’ve earned.
I don’t need to perform seriousness to prove either.

That’s one of the freedoms that comes with this stage of life:
I can have gravitas without fading.

More joy. More personality. More of the whole woman.

My credibility can handle it.

Your seat changes what you can see.

One of the greatest gifts of a long career isn’t just experience. It’s perspective.

You understand the employee differently once you’ve been the manager.

You understand the manager differently once you’ve carried the weight of bigger decisions.

You understand leadership differently when you’ve seen the business from more than one side.

Every seat I’ve sat in has taught me something the previous one couldn’t.

That’s part of evolving your leadership:
Not assuming the view from your seat is the whole view.

Sometimes leadership requires changing where you’re looking from.

I’m honoured to share that I’ve been nominated on behalf of Interac Corp. for the Advocate for Women Award at the 2026 Women in Payments Canada Awards.

This means a lot to me.

Supporting women in the workplace has been a thread running through much of my career sometimes visibly through coaching, leadership development and women’s programs, and sometimes more quietly through the conversations, encouragement, advocacy and opportunities that happen behind the scenes.

I’ve seen extraordinary women doing extraordinary work. I’ve also seen how much more is possible when workplaces recognize that talent, make space for different voices and perspectives, remove barriers, and ensure women have equitable access to opportunity and influence. Interac Corp. does this well.

I’ve been fortunate to have people - women and men - who have advocated for me along the way so to be recognized for advocacy feels particularly meaningful.

Thank you for the nomination and for seeing this in my work. Thank you to my colleagues at Interac Corp. for giving me the opportunity to do work I care deeply about and thank you to Women in Payments for continuing to create space to recognize and celebrate women across our industry.

There is still much work to do. I’m very glad to be part of it.

My laptop died while I was on vacation. Possibly the most inconvenient time because of course………..

Despite the massive inconvenience and potential for disruption to my business life , I chose not to stress.

Nor did I catastrophize. I just thought I’ll figure it out. There will be a way.

And there was:-) There always is! But in these times, our emotions love to run high and cloud our thinking - I am no exception;-)

The win wasn’t fixing the laptop. It’s realizing how much more I trust myself to always handle what happens next no matter what. Big life changes and broken laptops;-)
