Today I promoted John Calomeni to purple belt. I can’t tell you how much I admire John. He persevered through a completely torn patella tendon continuing to train in whatever limited way he could… for a year and a half! That’s dedication.

Today I was promoted to 2nd degree black belt by my professor
I can’t put into words how much this means to me and I’m truly grateful for the amazing people in my life that make it possible!
I can’t wait for the day that I can share the mats with all of you once again! To all the students we will be back and stronger than ever!

I’m so happy when I see the people around me achieve greatness and make their dreams come true!
That couldn’t be more true than for who is one the most genuinely great people I’ve ever met in my life. His jiu jitsu is amazing but his character is unmatched. I try to embody some of those characteristics. Thank you for being an amazing example.

John Calomeni has been taking classes and doing private lessons with me for a long time now. He’s a great student who’s very coachable and eager to learn. In March of this year he tore his patella tendon and has been extremely limited in his training. Despite this, he has continued his lessons with me and together we’ve found ways to work around his injury.
I gave him his first stripe and I’m happy to be the one to do it. He’s one the kindest and most positive people I know. The kind of person that I love to have around.
