We had an incredible game in picturesque Queenstown against the taking it to overtime on the 5th of July at their Ice Arena!

KELLY NEWBERRY #17
17 years of age, Defence

Born Edmonton currently residing in Wabasca, Alberta

Kelly started skating from a very young age and has been playing ice hockey for 14 years !
Kelly is missing his mum and sister back home but is enjoying his second time on tour together with his Dad - Coach Kimball.
His highlights have been the long bike rides with his friends exploring Sydney. This years tour has been especially fun thanks to all of the ice hockey games as the competition match ups this year has been great!

Kelly believes the tour is important to encourage kids to stick to sport and show them the amazing things that can be achieved when a whole group comes together. Learning about all the different cultures and way of life has been really interesting.

DUSTY MCLEOD #12
17 years of age, Defence
Born in St Albert, currently residing in Wabasca

Dusty’s favourite subject at school is ELA, has been playing ice hockey for 13 years and truly loves the game! 🏒
Dusty is missing his family, grandparents, pets and friends back home but has had such a memorable time making a name for himself on his first ever Tour of Hope - delivering the Northern Ice and Tour’s very first hat trick ! 🌟

Dusty believes the Tour brings the lucky youths a priceless opportunity full of experiences, fun and meaningful connections.
Dusty is so incredibly grateful to have been chosen and loved meeting different ice hockey teams across the world thanks to the tour. He will bring home lots of memories and many new friendships he will cherish forever! 🫶🏼

JUDE AHNASSAY
16 years of age, Forward
Born in High level and currently resides in Wabasca, Alberta

We are lucky to have Jude return to enjoy a second time round on the tour and is looking forward to seeing New Zealand for the first time.

Jude’s not missing school yet as he’s having too much fun experiencing new places and activities with his friends on an action packed tour - but if he had to choose a favourite subject it would be math.

Jude’s missing his mum and looking forward to seeing her to share all of his stories about the tours experiences.

ANDY CARIFELLE
17 years of age, Forward predominantly
Born in Edmonton, Alberta and currently residing in Wabasca

Andy is having a lot of fun second time round on the tour revisiting key ice hockey cities in Australia but has a definite highlight in NZ. He has particularly loved Queenstown and had so much fun with his friends and younger brother taking the gondola up to the top of the mountain and racing down together on the luge.

Andy’s favourite subject is math and wishing the trip would never end.

ANDYN CARIFELLE
14 years of age, Defence
Born in Edmonton, currently residing in Wabasca

Andyn is our youngest team member on the tour and enjoying his first experience of the Tour of Hope, made extra special as he is guided by his older brother Andy who has joined us for the second time! 🫶🏼
Andyn has been playing hockey most of his life since he first learnt to skate as a young child and currently playing for the Wabasca eagles.
His favourite subject is P.E, of course!
Andyn’s highlight of the trip is the ice hockey games, he loves lots of ice time and hoping to score lots of goals!

Our 6th and final game of the tour is approaching and guaranteed to be a blockbuster event 💥

Join us on Saturday the 13th of July 7:30 pm at Iceworld Boondall against the Brisbane Blitz 💫🥅🏒

The game is a free event - straight after the AIHL Melbourne Ice v Brisbane Lightning (ticketed) game so if you are attending prior keep an eye out for our merch table for your last chance to grab our 2024 tour jerseys and pucks - we would love it if you stick around and cheer us on on the ice as we emotionally bring our tour to an amazing end ❤️🫶🏼

KAIDEN GAGNON #4
18 years of age, Defence
Born in St Albert outside of Edmonton, currently residing in Wabasca, Alberta

Kaiden has loved playing hockey since he was 7 years old and started with the Shavers ice hockey club.
Out of all school subjects, Biology is his favourite as he finds it fascinating.
This is Kaiden’s first time on the tour and hopefully not his last!
Kaiden is missing his family and girlfriend back home but has really enjoyed learning about the different cultures and ways of life for Australians and New Zealanders as the highlight of the trip so far.
