I am a Body Harmonics trained Pilates Instructor, certified in both Mat Pilates and Reformer. After many years in the corporate world, I'm thrilled to return to an environment where bodies re-discover ease, taking shapes that promote mobility, strength and flexibility. A mover and dancer at heart, I derive so much joy from watching my clients develop a deep mind-body connection, and enjoy the harmony and confidence that comes with improved movement patterns.

When I’m looking for a challenge for a client (or myself!), Control Front is an excellent choice. We can gradually build up to the full exercise, modifying the resistance, reducing the range of motion, and placing the hands and feet in several different positions. We also have the option to exclude the shoulder extension at the tail end of the exercise.
In this video I’m demonstrating a modified hand position (on the carriage rather than on the shoulder rests), but I’m challenging myself with relatively heavy springs and executing the shoulder extension.
Although we are most definitely challenging our full body with this advanced exercise, it REALLY brings you face to face with your CORE strength, which is essential to execute the movements properly and safely. i.e. Abs on fire! 🔥

Sagittal Leg Arc (variation) is a challenging advanced exercise on the Reformer, requiring a big heaping of concentration, mind-body control, muscular strength, and core engagement.
My very experienced client makes this look easy, but don't be fooled - she's working very hard to maintain a neutral spine and square hips in this quadruped position, all while she sweeps her leg back to extend the hip and engage the glutes.
Before attempting Sagittal Leg Arcs, we prepared her body with exercises to prime her lateral system, open her hips, find scapular stability, and warm up the obliques. A recipe for success!

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. More than just "a workout", Pilates offers an opportunity to focus intently on our movements - where they start, where they end, and beyond that, how we carry the benefits of that movement with us throughout the day.
For me, time on the mat or reformer also offers a very welcome reprieve from the worries and responsibilities of every day life - a little mini-vacation for our busy brains!
