The autism and disability sector is in a funding crisisâand families are paying the price.
In Ontario alone, the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) is facing an estimated $385 million annual funding gap in 2026, even after new investments. More than 67,000 children are still waiting for core services. The Financial Accountability Office reports that while $965M is allocated for 2026â27, about $1.35B is needed just to meet the service levels Ontario had in 2018â19âmeaning current funding supports only about 23.4% of registered children.
And it doesnât stop there:
Developmental and special education supports have been chronically underfunded for decadesâleading to overcrowded classrooms, staff burnout, and reduced specialized support.
Over 70% of people with developmental disabilities in Ontario live in poverty, with 50,000+ still waiting for services.
Wait times for diagnosis and support remain at crisis levels, and disability benefits still arenât enough to lift many families out of poverty.
Across Canada, organizations are cutting programs, reducing hours, and relying more on fundraisingâbecause the need is growing while funding doesnât keep up.
Thatâs why Iâm stepping up this year by participating in MOVE 4 Kids, a national fundraising event supporting youth with autism and intellectual disabilities across Canada.
Iâm fundraising for the MOVE by GoodLife Kids Programâa free, year-round adapted fitness program that gives kids a place to move, belong, and build confidence in an environment designed for them.
Hereâs what your donation can do:
$25 = 1 week (up to 3 classes)
$75 = 3 weeks (up to 9 classes)
$125 = 5 weeks (up to 15 classes)
$1,300 = 1 full year (up to 156 classes)
My goal is to raise $2,600â$3,000 to help keep this program free for families who need it most.

Triple-Chocolate High-Protein Pudding đ«đȘ
Thick. Filling. Cut-Friendly.
The Story
In the quiet hum of an early morning kitchen, the blender becomes part of the ritual. The mission: create something rich enough to crush a chocolate craving, yet lean enough to fit a cutting phase. Greek yogurt brings the tang and thickness. Beef protein isolate adds muscle-fueling density. Chia seeds deliver slow-digesting fiber and that signature pudding body. The result? A spoon-holding, chocolate-loaded masterpiece that satisfies both craving and discipline.
This isnât just dessertâitâs strategy. Stay full. Stay strong. Stay on track.

âI CAN DO THISâ: Turning Self-Doubt Into Determination
Some days, motivation doesnât arrive like a lightning bolt. It shows up as a decision. A small, stubborn choice you make in the middle of stress, confusion, and frustration:
**I can do this.**
Not because itâs easy. Not because you feel ready. But because youâre willing to try again.
When âI Canâtâ Shows Up
âI canâtâ is a powerful sentenceâbut not because itâs true. Itâs powerful because it *sounds final*. It tries to shut the door before youâve even had a chance to learn, practice, or ask questions.
The truth is, most of the time youâre not saying âI canât.â
Youâre saying:
* **This is hard.**
* **Iâm stuck.**
* **Iâm overwhelmed.**
* **I donât know the next step yet.**
And that âyetâ matters.
Replace the Script
When you catch yourself spiraling, try swapping the words you repeat in your head. Not fake positivityâjust stronger, more accurate language.
Instead of **âI canâtâ**, try:
* **âI can do this.â**
* **âIâve got this.â**
* **âI need to try again.â**
* **âIâm having trouble, but Iâm not done.â**
* **âI will figure it out.â**
Because you donât need perfect confidence. You need forward motion.
Trying Again Is the Plan
Hereâs the part people donât say enough: **needing to try again isnât failure.** Itâs the process.
If youâre learning something new, building new habits, working through a challenge, or changing your lifeâeven a littleâthen repeat attempts are normal. Expected, even.
Tell yourself:
**Iâll try my best.
Iâll try again.
Iâll keep going.**
Asking for Help Is Strength
Sometimes motivation looks like willpower.
Sometimes motivation looks like sending a message that says:
**âI need help.â**
Thatâs not weakness. Thatâs strategy.
The strongest people arenât the ones who never struggleâtheyâre the ones who donât let struggle isolate them.
Stay Strong, Even When Itâs Messy
You can be determined **and** tired.
You can be anxious **and** brave.
You can feel stuck **and** keep moving.
Make it simple:
* **I will stay strong.**
* **This is not going to stop me.**
* **I will give it all Iâve got.**
* **I will never give up.**
And when you mess up? You donât quit. You reset.
A Mini Mantra for the Hard Moments
Save this for the moments you need it most:
**I can do this.
I need to try again.
Iâve got this.
I will ask for help.
I will figure it out.
I will not quit.
This will not stop me.
I will give it all Iâve got.**
# # Final Thought
You donât have to feel fearless to move forward.\
You just have to refuse to stop.
So say itâeven if you donât fully believe it yet:
**I CAN DO THIS.**

âHealthyâ doesnât have to mean joylessâand this pineapple âice creamâ is proof. It nails the reward factor (cold, creamy, sweet, scoopable) without turning dessert into a sugar-and-regret situation. Frozen pineapple brings the candy-like vibe, Greek yogurt adds real creaminess and protein, vanilla makes it feel like an actual treat, and that pinch of salt is the quiet genius that makes everything pop.
The best part: itâs customizable to your mood. Want it lighter? Keep the yogurt lean and skip the cream. Want a âI survived todayâ upgrade? Add a spoon of coconut cream and a drizzle of honeyâstill a smart choice, just with a wink.
Consider this your reminder: you donât need to âearnâ dessertâyou can choose a version that loves you back.
