RESTORATIVE YOGA AND EASTERN MEDICINE... 5/5.
5. The Bladder and The Back Body
The Bladder Meridian is the longest energy line in the entire body, and these two versions of Reclined Hand to Toe Pose (Supta Padangustasna) are great ways to free it up.
The Bladder is connected to the Kidney-Adrenal system in Eastern Medicine, which is what makes these positions very useful for easing the lower back from deficient Kidneys and Adrenal fatigue.

RESTORATIVE YOGA AND EASTERN MEDICINE... 4/5.
4. The Front Line and Digestion
The stomach meridian runs up the front of the body and Reclined Hero Pose (Supta Virasana) creates space in the front, opening the channels and freeing up the flow in the Stomach and digestive system.
Here are 3 versions depending on how open your quadriceps are.

3. Twists and the Gallbladder
The Gallbladder works closely with the Liver as a vital organ for digestion, metabolism and circulation. It aids in courage and clear decision making by helping us cut through the murkiness in our lives (i.e. "She has a lot of gall!")
Twist help flush the Gallbladder Meridian and improve its function.

RESTORATIVE YOGA AND EASTERN MEDICINE... connecting the dots, 2/5
2. Back Bends and the Heart Meridian
Opening the front of the body in backbends like this one, Upturned Staff (Vipartia Dandasana), frees the energy of the Heart meridian out into the hands. Circulation in the Heart meridians is vital to good health, warming and nourishing the entire body, brightening the complexion, and enlivening the spirit ('shen').

RESTORATIVE YOGA AND EASTERN MEDICINE
Supported Reclined Cobblers Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana) creates a circuit between the energy of the left (yin) and the energy of the right (yang) through the Kidney meridians. It also tonifies the kidneys by drawing them in and up, giving them a nice little boost.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAYS
Adrenal Fatigue? Stressed out? Sore back?
These are all common signs of KIDNEY deficiency and we're deep in WINTER, the season of the KIDNEY in Eastern Medicine.
I love this pose from the Restorative Yoga Deck because it works wonders to reset the balance of the nervous system by calming the 'fight, flight or freeze' reflex, easing the lower back and relaxing the illiopsoas and diaphragm muscles.
20 minutes in this posture will bring balance back to your nervous system and nourish overtaxed adrenal glands.
-Adjust the support as needed so the thighs are on an angle with the knees forward of the hips.
-Adding a weight to the lower belly if desired, increases the overall grounding and therapeutic effect.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAYS
Float Time!
Psyched to get back in the tank after a two year hiatus.
Floating or REST Therapy (Restricted Environment Stimulation Technique), is a type of sensory deprivation, where the goal is to restore the root of our sensory experience by limiting external stimulation for time.
If you're someone who feels the collective addiction we're experiencing in our culture to 24/7 stim, you need this therapy. We're breading a culture of ADD and I can feel it. Can you?
When you're in the tank, you're in a weightless co**se pose with no separation between the inside and the outside. You become aware of the subconscious tensions you're holding, breath into them and then release them. Such a simple but profound and necessary practice. This is the 5th limb of yoga, Pratyahara.
