There's a kind of grief nobody talks about.
Not because it isn't real. But because nothing has technically been "lost" yet.
The grief of watching a parent decline. Knowing a relationship is ending before it officially does. A chapter of your life quietly closing. A future you pictured, slowly looking different.
It's called anticipatory grief. And most people carry it alone because they feel like they don't have the right to name it yet.
Tomorrow at 2pm ET, I'm sitting down with Selena Jones on Wiser Minds to have an honest conversation about it. What it actually is, why it feels so isolating, what it's like to live in the "not yet," and how to start honouring what you're feeling instead of just pushing through.
If any of that sounds familiar, join us. It's free, it's live, and it's the kind of conversation most of us wish we'd had sooner.

Every month I ask our AYS community: what brought you joy?
This month we got a groom pulled out of a ditch by a tractor on his wedding day. A badger posing for a Vermeer portrait. Lily of the Valley finally blooming after two years of patience. And this, from one of our members:
"Through AYS I learned about Maud Lewis and now I have one of her paintings hanging in my family room. When I went to Halifax I went to the art gallery and saw her little house. Thank you for contributing to my joy."
That's the June Joy Report. Books, laughs, recipes, music, and a lot of good company.

All About Mom: This Wednesday's 2pm Sharing Squares
This week, we're exploring the women who shaped us.
We'll talk about your mother's hands. What you remember about what they did, how they looked, what they meant.
We'll reflect on the moment you became your mother, when you heard her words coming out of your mouth or caught yourself doing things her way.
And we'll honour the mothers who weren't your mother: aunts, grandmothers, neighbours, teachers who mothered you when you needed it most.
Bring your memories and maybe a tissue or two.

This month our members are watching an Oscar-winning documentary, reading a son's tribute to his mother, laughing at a trunk key joke from a 1980 novel, and watching owlets learn to fly.
This is what it looks like when a community pays attention to life.
We call it the Joy Report. AYS drops one every month. Full May edition in the comments.
