Skate Park for Steve Fundraiser 2016

The Rotary Park Skatepark finally has new lighting, thanks to a large donation from the Skatepark for Steve Fundraiser.
Hoping the skaters are enjoying being able to skate after dark, safely! Stay tuned for info regarding a gathering at the skatepark hopefully in August, to present to the community an on site memorial for Steve! Love never dies.

Big news! Last week, the Skatepark for Steve Fundraising committee wrote a cheque to the Town of Orangeville in the amount of $8900, as a donation towards a new lighting system for the skatepark! The team has worked relentlessly to lobby the Town and Rotary for improvements at the park since our first fundraiser in 2015. Well their efforts have paid off! The new lighting system (apparently worth $68,000) will be installed soon, if not this year, early in the spring! A rock has been donated to install a plaque dedicated to Steve. Thanks to Cynthia Rayburn (Rayburn Construction) for the donation of the rock and thanks to Mitch Pryma, Chris Fitzsimmons, Adam McLean and our fearless leader Jim Waddington! Your hard work is most appreciated! More details to follow!

So it looks like there is finally going to be some movement with Town of Orangeville on the improvements at the Skatepark! Thanks Jim W. and Adam, Mitch and Chris for all your determination, 3 years and it's a start, but calls are being made and plans are in the works!

THE NUMBERS ARE IN!!! Our Skatepark for Steve Fundraiser 2016 raised over $9500!!! While still waiting for a couple of payments to come in, we anticipate by the end of the week the balance in the account (Stephen Boyd Memorial Fund) for skatepark improvements in Orangeville will be approximately $20,430.00. Thank you everyone who came out and participated in our raffles, silent auction, 50/50 draw and special raffles, and enjoyed a fantastic evening of music, fellowship, food and fun!

Stay tuned to see "plans in action" by our skate team, who have been busy making presentations to Rotary and Town of Orangeville! Lots of exciting things in the works for the Skate community in memory of Steve!

Does anyone know how to get hold of Mike Lennox? He was the highest bidder for one of the pairs of snowshoes, cell given isn't working. Mike if you're out there, please contact Mitch Pryma or myself Diane, we would like to deliver your prize and wrap up the fundraiser so we can post the total raised!

Last night to try to scramble around for a ticket! I think Moguls may have a couple left, but other than that it's slim pickings!! Pretty much SOLD OUT!! This is going to be one awesome event!!

BIG NEWS!!! MacMaster GMC Dealership is providing us with a shuttle service, so nobody needs to drink and drive!! Service will be from Horizons Event Centre to different stops in Orangeville. It will be on a donation basis, so everyone can get home safely!!

Some people think you can get them at the door but we need to sell our tickets in advance so we can properly pay the caterer and purchase alcohol!
