Ontario Racing (OR) is a horse racing industry association, which was established to assume many of the functions of the Ontario Horse Racing division of the former Ontario Racing Commission. Ontario Racing is responsible for directing breed improvement programs, setting an annual program of races and purses, attracting new horse owners, building a fan base and connecting the industry with government and the general public.

Randy Waples, born in Ontario on July 31, 1965, retired as the all-time leading money-winning driver of races held in Canada, sporting more than 6,600 wins and $131 million. The son of Hall of Fame driver Ron Waples, Randy is perhaps best known as the driver of Hall of Fame trotter San Pail. In 2021, Randy was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.

THE ROAD TO INDUSTRY DAY IS SET.
The field is official for the 2026 Battle of Waterloo, with 10 Ontario-sired two-year-old pacing colts and geldings entered, meaning no eliminations will be required for the $205,000 final on Industry Day (Monday, Aug. 3) at Grand River Raceway.

The top four finishers from each elimination, plus one fifth-place finisher selected by lot, will advance to the $165,000 final on Industry Day.

After some impressive showings during Leg 3 of the Bet Ontario Handicapping Contest held at Clinton Raceway on Sunday, there are new leaders in the season-long standings. The list is now topped by Mark Porkolab, who ended Sunday's card with a bankroll of $1,274.51, followed by former Woodbine VP of Racing Jamie Martin in second with $517.35.
