Dana Bernhard from Pin Oak Stud talks about acquiring Hip #631, an Ontario Bred son of Golden Pal out of Golden Ami bred by Tall Oaks (Colleen Dalos) for $275,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale out of the Hill 'N' Dale at Xalapa consignment. Bernard said she loves racing at Woodbine Racetrack.

Proof that new Ontario government funding is working. Ontario Breds sold at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale during the first week averaged $303,947, with 19 yearlings sold for a combined $5.775 million.

Rob Landry, born in Toronto on Sept. 18, 1962, was twice voted Canada’s Outstanding Jockey (1993 and 1994). He won most of Canada’s biggest races, including the Queen’s Plate with Niigon in 2004. In 2014, he was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.

The 2026 Keeneland September Yearling Sale begins today (Sept. 14) in Lexington, KY, and it's another opportunity to access more than $20 million in purses and rewards restricted to Ontario Breds.
Beginning in Wednesday's third session, 76 Ontario Bred horses are due to go through the auction ring at the Keeneland Sales Pavilion.
This year, Ontario Breds are worth even more thanks to additional annual government funding of $10 million.

The Keeneland September Yearling Sale starts today. Seventy-six Ontario Bred horses are due to go through the ring beginning this Wednesday through the final session on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Doug Brown, born in Oshawa, ON on Sept. 11, 1955, was voted Canada’s Driver of the Year seven times and led the Woodbine circuit from 1988 to 1997. In 2006, he was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.
