Building a Strong and United Coaching Team 08/06/2026

🏒 A united coaching staff can make a big difference in the development and experience of young players. By working together, communicating effectively, and leading by example, coaches can create a positive team environment that helps players grow both on and off the ice...

Building a Strong and United Coaching Team Having a strong and united coaching staff is one of the most important things to any successful team. This is especially true in youth sports like minor hockey. Oftentimes we don’t fully realize how much of an impact we can...

🏒 As the season approaches - Set a Good Example for Your Teammates! Great teammates don’t just show up—they set the standard.
Arrive on time, be ready to work when the whistle blows, stay focused, and bring a strong work ethic every time you step on the ice. Your habits and attitude can influence the entire team.
Lead by example, hold yourself accountable, and be the teammate others can count on.

🏒 Pad Passes can create valuable second-chance scoring opportunities when no other options are available. It’s an important skill to have in your toolbox...especially when you need to find a way to keep the play alive and generate a scoring chance!

Throughout the summers I am blessed to be in a different part of the world every week teaching shooting and scoring. My favourite week by far, with 20 years and counting is with proskatersinc Paul (Papa Lawsy) Lawson to my left and Lucas (Laser) Lawson on my right. It’s amazing how a lunch at Quiznos has built a life long friendship.

Appies and dinner at the The Blue Horse Cucina with Andrea Cardiff Morgan Michaela and Steven with the 6 ⭐️ service and the kitchen with the 10 ⭐️ service! I highly recommend checking this spot out! You will not be disappointed!

Day 3 in Ottawa with proskatersinc working on the single leg shot release. Focusing on staying low, getting the hips back, the chest forward, fully extending and locking out the power arm. Great job fellas!

🏒 **Overemphasize the Movement!**

Maintaining a higher elbow position and actively engaging your wrists can accelerate your improvement. When learning a new skill or fine-tuning your technique, I always recommend overemphasizing key movements during training.

Why? Because exaggerating the correct movement helps build stronger habits and reduces the tendency to fall back into old, comfortable patterns.
**Train it correctly. Repeat it consistently. Make it automatic.**

🏒 Great stats! Where you shoot from matters. Point shots generate fewer rebounds than shots from closer areas or the corners. Understanding shot locations can help players and coaches create more rebound opportunities, and ultimately, more scoring chances. 🥅
