Our latest jiu jitsu tournament!
Coach Justin went 1-1 leading by example

Ben competed for the first time after only few months of training and almost almost got a win in a razor close match the judges even said they didn’t know who to give it to

Austin got a dub medaled his first tournament than showed his grit by volunteering to take on a competitor of a higher rank and much bigger size

Noah showed off his skills beating a skilled purple belt going 1-1

The guys all agreed it was a fun time and we all learned a lot to take with in training

So proud of this girl at just her second competition! 💪🥋

She brought home 🥈 Silver in Sparring and 🥉 Bronze in Belt Sparring and 🥉 Chanbara today!

She puts in the work, keeps a positive attitude, and improves every time she steps onto the mats. It’s so rewarding to watch her confidence and skills continue to grow. Congratulations—you earned every medal! 👏❤️

Yesterday we went to the summer smash wako kickboxing event with 2 of our students Max and Owen

They crushed it today

They both won gold showing amazing skills and composure but I was blown away with their adaptability and problem solving

It was honour to watch them compete for the first time in WAKO

A couple weeks ago Brandon and Noah fought beautifully at the Barrie Open

They walked away with silver medals and a bunch of new experience

Special day for me selfishly watching Brandon get his first submission victory as well as 3 more

Watching Noah use the same deep half guard stuff he uses to beat me up in the gym was cool

After it was all over Brandon got his blue belt which makes him the first member of our club to earn a blue belt as I was a blue belt when the club started 4 ish years ago

It was very well deserved it was a long time coming

Coach Justin is home from Turkey 🇹🇷🌍

Another World Championships in the books and another huge step forward in experience and growth.

He finished the tournament going 2-2, beating 2 tough opponents from Turkey and a loss to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, ultimately earning 5th place in the world.

One thing about competing internationally is that it shows you exactly where you’re at — and where the next level is. Justin said his Kazakhstan match showed the experience gap right away:
> “He was good and you could tell he’s been there tons of times before.”

But that’s part of the process. Every year he steps onto this stage, he gets better, more composed, and more experienced against elite competition.

His match against Turkmenistan felt much closer:
> “I felt pretty comfortable. I’d say it was probably 50/50, maybe 60/40 him. I’d have to rewatch it.”

That ability to honestly reflect, learn, and keep improving is what high-level competition is all about 👊

Also… he left with wild tournament hair and came back with a haircut and clean shave, so apparently international competition also builds character AND grooming habits 😂

Proud of the work, the experience gained, and the way he continues to represent our team on the world stage year after year. On to the next one 🔥

Reminder that there are no Kids or Youth classes tonight as Justin is currently in Turkey preparing to compete this weekend at the Combat Jiu Jitsu World Championships, 🇹🇷🌍 watching others compete and seeing some of Turkey.

🏆 🏆 NATIONAL CHAMPION & WORLD BOUND 🏆

Joel has done it again.

Joel is once again your WAKO National Kickboxing Champion in Full Contact, securing the win by TKO.

His recent accomplishments are nothing short of impressive:

🔥 3 National Championships in a row
🔥 4 National titles total
🔥 Only missed one year due to injury
🔥 3 Full Contact victories in a row by TKO

Joel is also currently on a 3-0 winning streak in Low Kick.

At the Winter Games, Joel went 2-0 in Low Kick, earning two stoppage victories on his way to becoming Winter Games Champion — a huge accomplishment against tough competition.

Because of his continued success, Joel has been selected to represent on the international stage at the WAKO World Championship (All Disciplines) for Children, Cadets and Juniors in Jesolo Lido, Venice, Italy 🇮🇹 this September.

What a day at the Promar Karate Tournament in Listowel this past Saturday 👊🔥

With 6 competitors and at one point 4 going at the same time, it was a busy, high-energy day from start to finish!

We had an amazing showing across Point Sparring, Belt Sparring, and Chanbara (sword fighting) — bringing home lots of medals and even more experience 🥇

A huge shoutout to our 4 first-time competitors who stepped onto the mats and rose to the challenge. Competing for the first time takes courage, and you all handled it like pros 💪

This is what it’s all about — growth, teamwork, and showing up for each other. Proud of every single one of you 👏

Thank you to the organizers for hosting a great event and giving our athletes the opportunity to compete and learn.
