Hi everyone!!

If you tried to register your child for Monday Canskate and could not because it said the minimum age was 8 years 9 months, please accept our apologies.

There was a typo and the minimum age should have read 4 years 9 months.

Please try again.

⭐️ STARSKATE REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! ⭐️
We’re excited to welcome skaters into our Star 1 & Star 2 programs for another season on the ice! ⛸️💙
This year, we’re offering 2-day and 3-day packages. The Star program is a step up from Learn to Skate and requires a little more commitment, with a minimum of two skating days per week to help skaters build skills, confidence and momentum in their progress.
✨ What’s new for Star 1?
This year, Star 1 skaters will receive more structured instruction time and less independent skating. This means more coaching, more guidance and more productive time on the ice.
Our goal is to create an environment where skaters can continue developing their skills while having fun and feeling supported every step of the way. ❤️
📍 Sandy Shores Skating Club
📍 Parksville, Vancouver Island
Registration is now open through Uplifter at https://sandyshores.uplifterinc.com

If you have a skater who is ready to take the next step beyond Learn to Skate, we’d love to see them on the ice with us. ⭐️

Congrats to our award winners for the 2025/26 season! ☀️
🩵Most improved: Reka Farago
Reka started with us in September and has grown so much as a skater. She was very tentative in the beginning, but through hard work and quiet determination was successful in passing her Star 1 freeskate assessment. She always comes to the rink ready to go and is usually the first one on the ice and the last one to leave. Congratulations Reka!
🩵Most Dedicated: Ira Avis
Ira started in the Star program in January. He always has a smile on his face, and never complains! His positive attitude and willingness to try almost anything has made him a great addition on the ice. Congratulations Ira!
🩵Spirit Award: Mason Peebles
Mason has been with us on our Canskate sessions for the past few years, and he is so much fun! He always has a smile on his face, and is quick to laugh off a mistake. You will often find him cheering on his fellow skaters when they achieve a new skill, or encouraging them when they are finding a skill challenging. Thank you, Mason, and congratulations!
🩵Perseverance: Zoey Diaz
Zoey has also been with us on Canskate for the past couple of years. She is a very quiet skater who always tries her best even when things might not come easily. She improved so much this year, particularly over the winter session of Canskate. I hope she continues to try hard and keep that positive attitude, as it will serve her well in life! Congratulations Zoey!
🩵 Mya LaForest and Reka Farago
Congrats on passing your Star 1 test!

Some kids start skating because they want to learn a sport…
but what they really gain is confidence.
The first time they step on the ice they might hold the boards.
A few weeks later they’re skating across the rink.
A few months later they believe they can do hard things.
Skating teaches balance, resilience, and courage - and it’s amazing to watch kids discover what they’re capable of.
If your child has ever wanted to try skating, our beginner programs are always the best place to start.
