U16 GIRLS TEAM CANADA MAKES HISTORY!

History has been made in Sheffield!

Team Canada captured the first-ever ISBHF U16 Girls World Championship, defeating Slovakia 2-1 in a thrilling Gold Medal Game to become the inaugural world champions.

Canada finished the preliminary round with a 3-0-1 record, then earned a hard-fought 4-3 semifinal victory over Slovakia to advance to the championship game.

In the gold medal final, Emma McLaughlin and Emma DaSilva scored for Canada, while Slovakia mounted a late push after pulling their goalie with just over two minutes remaining. The Canadians stood tall defensively to secure the historic victory.

This historic achievement would not have been possible without the outstanding leadership and dedication of the Team Canada staff. Thank you for your countless hours of preparation, guidance, and commitment throughout the tournament.

L'ÉQUIPE CANADA U16 FÉMININE ENTRE DANS L'HISTOIRE!

L'Équipe Canada a remporté le tout premier Championnat mondial féminin U16 de l'ISBHF, en défaisant la Slovaquie 2 à 1 lors d'une finale enlevante pour devenir les premières championnes du monde de cette catégorie.

Le Canada a terminé la ronde préliminaire avec une fiche de 3 victoires, 0 défaite et 1 défaite en prolongation (3-0-1), avant de vaincre la Slovaquie 4 à 3 dans une demi-finale chaudement disputée pour accéder au match pour la médaille d'or.

Lors de la finale, Emma McLaughlin et Emma DaSilva ont marqué les buts du Canada. La Slovaquie a exercé une forte pression en fin de match après avoir retiré sa gardienne avec un peu plus de deux minutes à faire, mais les Canadiennes ont tenu bon pour décrocher ce championnat historique.

Cet accomplissement historique n'aurait pas été possible sans le leadership exceptionnel et le dévouement du personnel d'Équipe Canada. Merci pour les innombrables heures de préparation, d'encadrement et d'engagement tout au long du tournoi.

Following the conclusion of the final match between the Czech Republic and the United States, the tournament’s organizing committee announced the names of the top players at each position, named the World Championship’s top scorer and most valuable player, and also announced the All-Star Team for the women’s division of the championship.

The 38-year-old American Maxie Weisz was named Best Goaltender after recording a shutout for the Czech Republic in the final and leading the Americans to a narrow 1-0 victory. Of all the goalies who played in more than two games in the tournament, she had the highest save percentage. Weisz also played the most minutes in the tournament.

The tournament organizing committee named 25-year-old Czech player Klára Seroiszková as the best defender; she scored four goals and added three assists in seven games at the tournament and was the second-highest-scoring defender at the World Championship.

The tournament’s top scorer was Lucie Kubínová, a 26-year-old Czech player, who contributed five goals and seven assists to her team’s effort.

The tournament’s top scorer was 32-year-old Canadian Carol Ann Upshall. She scored nine goals and recorded 11 assists in seven games. She led the player scoring by four points.

Two Czech players, two American players, one player from Canada, and one from Slovakia were selected for the tournament’s All-Star Team.

TEAM CANADA U16 WOMEN IS READY FOR SHEFFIELD! 🇨🇦

The ISBHF, Ball Hockey UK, and the Host Organizing Committee have officially unveiled the schedule for the 2026 ISBHF U16 Women's World Junior Ball Hockey Championship, taking place July 2-5 in Sheffield, Great Britain.

After ten years, the championship returns to Sheffield, where the next generation of women's ball hockey stars will compete on the world stage.

Canada will battle Czechia, Great Britain, Slovakia, and the USA in a round-robin preliminary round before the top four teams advance to Championship Sunday to compete for the gold and bronze medals.

We would like to wish General Manager Paige Smith, Head Coach Carley Bloomberg, and the entire coaching and support staff the very best as they lead Team Canada into international competition.

A sincere thank you goes out to every athlete, parent, family member, and friend who has supported these players throughout their journey. Representing Canada is an incredible honour, and we know this team will wear the Maple Leaf with pride.
