This is a great spot to stop and get some paddling in if you live in the city. The water is well protected therefore mostly still. You will get views of the city skyline and science world, you can paddle past Granville Island, and you will see lots of other boaters to say hello to.

It's not a spot with a loungy beach or a great swim spot, but it is easily accessibly by car and transit and will appease that water craving.
