I am an independent Certified Personal Trainer new to Vancouver!! I moved here in September 2014 from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where I offered private, semi-private and small group training sessions from my home studio. As a personal trainer I work hard to provide my clients with the knowledge, support, & motivation to reach their fitness goals. I always strive for effective, efficient, challenging but fun workout programs. My job is to listen, teach, coach and push you to be best you can be!!! I offer a non-intimidating, comfortable, enjoyable environment. Sessions are designed based on the individual clients needs, but I enjoy a functional approach using body weight exercises, a wide variety of free weight options- TRX’s, kettlebells, stability balls, bosu balls, medicine balls, barbells, dumbbels, agility ladders, cable pulleys, and many multi-functional movements. When working with a new client I always start with a Consultation. This is a “Meet & Greet” type of appointment where we get to know each other. I collect important information such as past & present fitness level, past & present health conditions/issues/concerns, general lifestyle and eating habits, what your present fitness regime looks like, what your goals are, and overall, how I can help you reach those goals and achieve and improved level of fitness and health. From here we develop a program that fits into your schedule while achieving maximal success.
** It’s important to find the “right fit” both for the client and the trainer. I greatly respect our time together and want everyone to feel their time is being spent wisely and optimally. It takes effort to venture off and leave the house (especially now with a little one in tow). And you know, some days it is nice to just stay at home. But with a little effort come reward! I’ve never regretted a decision to get outside and explore.

I don’t know about you, but most days I don’t feel overly “motivated” to workout. And that’s coming from a personal trainer! Haha. But instead, it’s the actual workout itself that fuels my motivation. Usually after about 5-10mins I get into the groove, I feel better mentally and physically, I feel energized and more happy.. and THAT is what fuels my motivation to keep going.
So the next morning when I’m lying in bed thinking “man I don’t want to get up and exercise”…I remember how good it feels and if I just get up and get going I’ll feel so much better than had I stayed in bed.
I also really try to listen to my body. Some days it IS better to stay in bed or take a day off.
I go by this 10-minute rule…if I don’t feel better after 10mins than I can call it a day. If I’m exhausted and totally worn out, after 10mins I won’t feel energized, I’ll feel completely drained. That’s the sign that my body needs rest versus stress. In which case I’ll throw in the towel and call it done. But more often than not after 10mins I feel great and that drives me to keep going. 😊💪🏻
