It's thin, easy to put on, and offers protection on par with conventional braces.

At NoBreak, we are in the midst of designing an ankle brace that only stiffens when there's a risk of an ankle sprain, remaining flexible and comfortable otherwise.

💫 Our product features and build! 💫

First, we have the Velcro strap. The strap is an integral component used to keep the brace in place during play. The strap will be at the top of the brace to secure the brace and ensure the stiffening material remains in the correct place to prevent injury.

NoBreak’s design is primarily based on active stiffening – during normal wear, it is loose for mobility but stiffens during potential injury. To accomplish this, visco-elastic material is used as a dampener that can dynamically stiffen. Visco-elastic materials have a unique property— to reduce the force on the ankle relative to velocity. Using this, we plan on building an ankle brace that stiffens at higher angular velocities around the ankle joint while being flexible at low velocities. This will allow users to move in their activity comfortably and freely with security and protection from ankle injuries.

Our brace is projected to have a thickness under 5mm, feature no hard plastic that can cause pinching, and have a total weight under 45g.
