North GTA Bass Anglers

On this latest North GTA Bass Anglers weekend trip, although we caught lots of bass but it was fun multi-species time!

Hopefully this will be the first of many more of these events! The North GTA Bass Anglers gathered for a trip down to Lake Chautauqua & Lake Erie for a fun filled weekend! This event encompassed what our club is all about, it was all about camaraderie, fishing, food and having a great time!
We’re sure that everyone who attended this awesome trip will agreed that we all got to know each other a bit better & learned a lot about fishing!
Thanks to Jim for hosting us for our 2 dinners where there was no shortage of food & drink! We’ll post some more pics from the weekend shortly!

This spring has been full of surprises and the weather that we had for the 2026 North GTA Pike Open was no different. Strong winds made for tough fishing but the team of David Chong & Russ Watkins prevailed with 137.25" of Balsam Lake Pike! They also managed to win "BIG FISH" with a 32.5" Northern Pike! IMPORTANT REMINDER: All teams are responsible for their own Provincial Park day use pass for their vehicles - https://www.ontarioparks.ca/dayuse/getapermit, unless you have a Provincial Park seasonal pass!
The Provincial Park Seasonal Passes are a great value, they are available at all provincial parks or online at https://reservations.ontarioparks.ca/store/all?departmentId=-32728

If you have fished in the North GTA Pike Open in the past, you should have received an e-mail with a registration form & a copy of the rules for this year! If not please check your spam folder, because of the attachments, they often get dumped in there!

With the North GTA Pike Open coming up, please be aware of rule #2:
2/ Only Northern Pike will be allowed to be submitted for measuring! Please know your fish species and be able to identify the difference between a Northern Pike & a Tiger Muskie! Any team presenting a Muskie for measurement will receive a “ZERO” length score for 1 of their 5 fish limit!
It is your responsibility to be able to determine the difference between a Northen Pike & a Muskellunge/Muskie or Tiger Muskie!
This event is for Northern Pike only!!!!!

With a colder usual spring, the pike should be lean & mean during this year's North GTA Pike Open on Balsam Lake! The event will take place on Sat. May 9, 2026 out of Balsam Lake Provincial Park! Please e-mail us at [email protected], DM us or post your e-mail in a post & we'll get a registration form & a copy of the rules out to you!
