Huge congrats to Varsity Karate athlete Yash*ta Kaku on earning her black belt!!! 👏👏👏👍💪🥋🔥. Yash*ta has been diligently practising and training since she was 6 years old (see the last photo in the post for a pic from 2018). Yash*ta has been a key member of our team since we opened our doors and we are thrilled to still have her working hard and taking on leadership rolls in the dojo. Well done Yash*ta!! 😊

Huge shout out to our awesome Varsity Karate elite program athletes who competed and officiated in the 2026 BC Winter Games this last week in Trail, BC. Athletes Laura and Kaiya and junior officials Pahal and Joann gained valuable experience and memories that will last a life time. A huge thank you to the volunteer coaches and event volunteers and organizers. The BC Winter Games is an amazing opportunity all around! 👍❤️🥋🔥👏👏👏👏

Let’s go Laura and Kaiya!!! These two awesome karate athletes are on their way to the 2026 BC Winter Games to represent Zone 6 (Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast). These two have been preparing like crazy to do their best at the amazing developmental sporting Games. The karate competition is BCWG is for 12/13 year old athletes in the intermediate and advanced karate levels. Laura and Kaiya will be joined by two other Varsity Karate athletes, Joann and Pahal who were selected to attend and receive Junior Officials training. Joann and Pahal are BCWG alumni, having competing at the Games 2 years ago. Good luck all!! The Karaté competition at the Games runs Feb 27/28.

Congrats to Varsity Karate athletes Sofia Devlin and Ella Crowle on challenging themselves against the best in the country at the 2026 Senior and U21 National Karate Championships. Both athletes had excellent bouts against the top athletes in their weight categories. Ella Crowle earned a Silver medal and a place on the 2026 U21 National in the -68kg kumite division and will be representing Canada at the 2026 Senior and U21 Pan American Championships this May in Brazil. Sofia Devlin placed 7th in the Senior -61kg division, facing the eventual gold and silver medalists in her two bouts. A huge “Thank-You” to the BC Team coaches and staff for making this positive team experience possible. Big “Thanks” also to the event organizers, officials and volunteers!! ❤️🥋🇨🇦👍

Congrats to Varsity Karate athlete Ella Crowle for earning a silver medal and place on Canada’s National Team in the U21 -68Kg kumite division. Ella fought 8 bouts to earn this medal, gaining valuable experience and lessons along the way. Well done Ella! Next stop, the 2026 U21 Pan Am Karate Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this coming May.

The 2026 Senior and U21 National Karate Champion starts tomorrow. Good luck to everyone competing.
