It was so uplifting and touching to have so many people come out to see and learn first hand about the art that means so much to me and the dojo we have worked so hard to put together. Truly, thank you so much.

πŸŽ‰ I am so excited to announce that we have been officially accepted into the Japanese Budo Association in Tokyo!

Under the supervision of Kaicho Yasuhito Asano (a master of iaijutsu in the style of Shinkage Ryu, the art of Japanese swordsmanship dating back to 1508) The JBA is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of traditional Japanese martial arts and Budo (the way of the warrior); things that resonate deeply with myself.

In order to truly master martial arts, one must study a variety of disciplines; this is a huge opportunity for us to do just that by exchanging with different cultures and styles in order to grow and evolve.

I have been dreaming of joining the JBA since I first met them at a demo in Tokyo back in 2024. They are a talented and strong group, but also very welcoming and fun... To say I am ecstatic is an understatement!

πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈπŸ› οΈ Dojo construction update #2! Electricians, HVAC, plumbers and sign guys have all been in here building and helping us bring our dojo into reality. We’re getting close enough now that the soft-launch no longer feels like a dream.

πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈπŸ› οΈ Building is officially underway at the new dojo! Week 1 went smoothly with getting our permits in place, doing a bit of demolition and preparing for an array of contractors to install all of the things we need to bring real full-contact style karate into the Westshore!

Stay tuned for more updates each week as we progress towards the big launch in late August, early September! Osu!
