Cedar Heart School of Karate-do We teach traditional karate classes in Victoria, British Columbia with an emphasis on the art of karate-do, rather than competitive sport karate.

Classes held at three locations in Victoria. We are a member of the Wado Karate Association of Canada.

I’m looking for 2–3 more people to join our new Teen & Adult Karate group at Gorge Pavilion. 🥋

Our new class begins September 24, and I’d love to round out the group with a few more teens or adults who have thought about trying karate.... but maybe haven’t quite taken that first step.

And if you’re thinking, “I’ve never done anything like that before,” that’s completely fine.

You don’t need previous experience. You don’t need to be especially flexible. You don’t need to get in shape before you start.

That’s what training is for.

Cedar Heart teaches traditional Wado-ryu karate in a welcoming, structured environment where you can learn at your own pace, improve your fitness and coordination, challenge yourself, and keep building new skills over time.

This is a new group, which also makes it a particularly good time to start — you won’t be walking into a room where everyone else has been training for years.

Great to be back at Oaklands Community Centre for our first Kids Karate class of the fall term!

It was wonderful to see returning students back on the floor and to welcome some new faces to our Saturday morning class as they begin, or continue, their karate-dĹŤ journey.

🥋 What a great evening at our FREE Karate Open House at the Esquimalt-Gorge Pavilion!

We had a fantastic time introducing attendees of all ages to karate-dĹŤ and giving everyone a chance to get moving, try some techniques, and experience what our classes are all about.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and we look forward to welcoming many of you back when our new Gorge programs begin Thursday, September 24.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply showing up and getting started. Once you do, the journey begins.

🥋 Thinking about trying karate this fall? There’s a place for you and your family at Cedar Heart!

Kids, teens and adults are now welcome at three locations across Victoria and Esquimalt, and complete beginners are always welcome!

Whether you’re looking for a positive activity for your child or you’ve always wanted to try karate yourself, Cedar Heart offers traditional Wado-ryu karate in a supportive, welcoming environment where students can learn step by step and progress at their own pace.

Training helps students build confidence, focus, fitness, coordination and discipline, while learning new skills and having something meaningful to work toward.

🥋 OAKLANDS COMMUNITY CENTRE
Kids 6–12 • Saturdays 9:45–10:45 AM
Teens & Adults 13+ • Wednesdays 7:30–8:45 PM

🥋 ESQUIMALT-GORGE PAVILION
Kids 6–12 • Thursdays 6:00–7:00 PM
Teens & Adults 13+ • Thursdays 7:15–8:30 PM

🥋 DOWNTOWN VICTORIA
Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre
Kids 6–12 • Wednesdays 5:30–6:30 PM

No experience needed. Beginners are welcome.

🥋 The dojo is where we learn. Consistent practice is where we become stronger.

A few extra repetitions. A few minutes of training outside class. The small things you do when nobody is watching add up over time.

Train in the dojo. Train outside it. Stay consistent and keep improving.

Strength isn’t built in one class. It’s built through what you choose to practice again and again.
