We love this quote.๐Ÿ’š Honestly it was so simple. It happened on a trail walk with this friend. She had pain and trouble walking. We stopped on the trail and practiced a simple movement which she kept up at home almost daily.

This was a case where the treatments from the practitioner she was seeing were not changing her pain on a permanent basis. She got temporary relief but not long term relief.

Our philosophy is that you should feel a shift after your first session with us and then progress into feeling better and moving better over 6 to 8 weeks of committed practice. Our interest is in solving the problem so that it doesn't come back or at least is significantly reduced. If not, our methodology cannot help and we will tell you that and suggest and alternative practitioner.

The expansion of true functional core stability is a by-product of the practices and principles we teach.

It is an incredible benefit without actually doing high load core building exercises.

๐Ÿ‘True core stability is supple, soft, flexible and strong.

Muscles are designed to contract when needed and relax when the work is done. Rigid or tight muscles have lost this ability and cannot do their job well and then cannot support functional core stability.

If the body has tension/pain that is an indicator that functional core stability is not present. Further to that, if the activities you participate in do not resolve your tension or pain then that indicates your activities are contributing to your pain.

Don't get us wrong, we fully support being active and strengthening. What we do not support is movement that keeps the body in tension or pain.

Our body Somatic Nervous System keeps a record of what happens in our lives. All stresses, stored emotions, past experiences, trauma, our established belief systems, our likes and dislikes - both conscious and unconscious. It all shows up in our sensing and feeling body (somas). Our somas are a storehouse of historical information about our lives.

We often refer to ourselves as bodies. This certainly refers to muscles, tissues, bones etc, but it disregards the larger essence of ourselves - our spirits and our unique selves as a whole. And we would argue that it negates your own power in the healing process.

Somatics or SomaYoga is a process of going deep inside to become aware of the ways we have become stuck in our movement, breath, mindset, and behaviours that cause pain or suffering.

Once we can recognize these things we can begin to re-educate and release these patterns, and adopt new ways of moving, being and doing to restore more balance, ease and happiness in our lives.

My Story

I specialize in Somatic Movement Therapy. What this means is that I teach people about the Somatic Nervous System and how to use their brains to eliminate tension and holding patterns caused by stress, trauma, and unconscious repetitive movement. I really want you to get that you are the only one that can fix you - Retrain Your Brain + Change Your Pain.

I address the body and mind to support the healing process. I teach clients how to take control of their healing process reduce or resolve persistent pain. I teach a transformative technique called Pandiculation, to release chronically tight muscles and broad-scale habituated reflex patterns that interfere with sleep, movement, and mood and over time lead to a whole suite of commonly diagnosed medical conditions.

My work is unique in that it works using the sensory motor feedback loop - the fastest and most responsive system in the body which requires active deliberate participation by the client. The amazing thing is that when you learn the technique you can do it anywhere.
