The good news is the extended forecast calls for snow!!! Cough, cough, cough... Even though we are all looking forward to spring, make sure to get out and enjoy it while it's there!!!๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Here is Shane Ringham physiotherapist, working with one of our participants in the GLA:D program. It is an exercise program specifically designed for people suffering from hip and knee osteoarthritis๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž

Physiotherapy is many different things for different people but on a basic level it is helping people to help themselves. Here is Pam VanKampen, who has specialized neurophysiotherapy therapy skills, help Thomas learn how to crawl better. Pam's skillset focuses on helping people recover from issues such as stroke, spinal cord injuries and helping to reestablish the mind/muscle connection.

Belated Happy Birthday to one of our incomparable front desk staff, Shani Rittel!!!!

Professional development is very important for us at PhysioPlus. Alia Pfeiffer has recently taken a course in Vestibular therapy and spent an hour teaching our staff how to help people suffering from vertigo and dizziness. If dizziness or vertigo is something you or a loved one is suffering from, don't hesitate to book in with Alia as she is fantastic at helping clients with this issue.๐Ÿ˜€

It may be cold outside but our clinic is nice and sunny. While these temperatures make it challenging to go exercise outside, it does create a great opportunity to work in anything that is holding you back. Give us a call and let us help you get going again.

We are very excited to announce the hiring of a new physio at PhysioPlus. Kate McArthur is a physio who focusses on pediatric physiotherapy. She is a born and raised Yukoner who has come home to work and is very excited to be helping everyone from babies to teenagers get better.

Our annual calendars have arrived and are available free for pick up at the clinic in the CGC. If you would like one just ask at the front desk and we would be happy to give you one. Due to Covid related restrictions we are letting people grab their own.

[11/16/20]   Just a reminder to all our clients that the Canada Games Centre now requires masks be worn when you enter the facility. This aligns with our clinic policy and we encourage all our clients, friends and family to be doing everything they can to help limit the spread of Covid-19.

We are very excited about the new sign Inkspirationz made for us. #superfancy #supportlocal #awesomeness

Our very own David Eikelboom has now become a certified Athletics Canada club coach for endurance running. This is great as David and his wife are starting up a local running club to help people progress farther towards their running goals. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Marcus Herron Deadlift

Marcus Herron is someone who always shows up with a great attitude and energy. He doesn't let his cerebral palsy diagnosis define him or limit him. He has been working for a long, long time at this and it is only right to celebrate his hard work and achievement. Here he is setting his deadlift PB of 145 lbs. Great job Buddy!!!

The sun is streaming into our gym this morning. Hereโ€™s hoping everyone is getting out and enjoying our current sunny weather. #winteriscoming #sunshinerehab #physiotherapy #cantgowronggettingstrong

The weather has been beautiful lately and we hope you are all getting outside and enjoying the sunshine. Here is a great picture of Trevor Hookham (one of our great physios) and his wife Vida enjoying a hike in the Tombstones.

We are hiring and looking to add to our already fantastic front desk staff. If you think this position will suit you or someone you know, please have the resume dropped off in person at our clinic located in the Canada Games Centre.
This position will be part-time with potential for full time hours as needed.

There are many different ways we can help people get back to leading their best life. #physiotherapy #alwaysanoption #strength #experthelp

We donโ€™t just do rehabilitation. We live rehabilitation. #truewarrior #ourfrontdeskisthebest #champ #cantstopwontstop

Protective headgear comes in all shapes and sizes, some more effective than others. If you are out and about this weekend remember to protect yourself appropriately. Concussions are no laughing matter. #helmet #crashprotection #notsoeffective #itsastart

This is rehab #strongisbetter #rehabilitation #physiotherapy #swingsarentjustforplaygrounds

We hope everyone had a great weekend! The sun was out and warm temperatures were here (finally!!)

We just had a late cancel for an initial assessment today at 1:40. If you have time today and have been wanting to get in to see a physio, please call the clinic at 668-4886.

Hiking exercise from Trevor Hookham.

This video shows a good exercise for strengthening your legs and helping with your hiking. It is always a good idea to work on leg strength if you like hiking. The going down can be harder on the knees than the up.

We would like to thank all the City of Whitehorse staff at the Canada Games Center. Over the past three months with the continuing changing circumstances and having to use an alternative access to our business they have been exceptionally understanding, accommodating, friendly (as usual), and professional. We are now able to have our clients access our clinic through the main doors of the CGC as usual.

Thank you so, so much and know that your actions have made a trying time much, much, much easier.

Physiotherapy has changed a lot. Strength is rehabilitation #movementismedicine #physiotherapy #strengthisalwaysagoodthing

We are continuing to expand our services and slowly move towards operating as normal. So we are happy to announce that our pelvic floor physiotherapist Mary Egan is going to be seeing clients in clinic again on June 29th. She has many many years experience and is fantastic at treating pre and post-partum , pelvic pain and many other pelvic floor issues.

Here is hoping everyone has fun weekend plans. Yukon Government campgrounds are now open so hopefully everyone gets out there even if the weather forecast is a little offside.

Core exercise for running

Here is a video by David Eikelboom phyiostherapist at PhysioPlus that will help strengthen your core and hopefully help to prevent injury.
David is a super focused and experienced runner who has just started his own coaching business. Check out his page if you are interested in improving generally or working on a specific goal.

Congratulations to Shane Patrick Ringham physiotherapist and his family for the new addition. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

We are so happy to be open again and taking new assessments BUT we would be absolutely NOWHERE without our fantastic front desk staff!! There has been continual and constant change over the past two months of crazy and they have always responded with a smile and great ideas. Brenda, Shani, Helen and Kiara. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you #theyarethebest, #wearesolucky

We hope everyone is planning on getting outside and de-stressing from the past week. The unsettled nature of our world these days makes it even more important than usual to get outside and clear out the mind.

Staff meetings are different these days for sure. Who do you think has the best #zoomroom?

We hope everyone had a great long weekend and you were able to enjoy the Yukon outdoors. The summer is just starting and being outside is a great way to maintain social distancing, stay happy and get a little exercise.

It has been a great week of seeing our fantastic clients back in clinic and also continuing to do telehealth with the ones who prefer to stay at home and receive our services.

With the long weekend coming up make sure to continue following the directions of the Chief Medical Officer of Health but get outside and get moving!!

The spectacular photo below is of Mandy McClung hiking with her family. Can anyone guess where they are? We will randomly pick from the correct answers and give a prize to the winner.

Today is the day!! We are so excited as we are now open for physiotherapy assessments and treatments. It is great to be able to connect with our clients again and help people get back to living their lives healthy and pain-free.
We are maintaining strict cleanliness and handwashing controls and following all the guidelines put forth by the Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Yukon.

[05/06/20]   Here is a radio interview that Thane Phillips did with Dave White on CBC Yukon. If you have any questions about proper office ergonomics, this may be helpful for you and give you some tips to fix your home office.
