The common denominator in effective treatment is ATTENTION.
Attention to the sensation of our movement, the movement of our thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Dr. Feldenkrais developed his method as a way of using movement to increase our self awareness.
We begin to notice when we are creating or trying to push through resistance, how we can find greater ease within ourselves, or in other words, eliminate dis-ease.

The flip side of this is that it’s normal to feel stress and anxiety.
The problem occurs when we deny, numb and distract.
This pent-up energy in the body literally makes us sick.
It is possible to learn, identify, and release these constrictions within ourselves.
Movement can be a part of the solution!

The rib cage has 86 articulations or small joints that connect the ribs to the spine in the back and the sternum (breast bone) in the front.
Although the movement at each of these joints is small, if they are moving well, the ribs are more like a basket than a cage.
This is important because the freer the movement of the ribs, the greater lung capacity you could potentially have. Not only that, but the freedom of movement of the ribs is directly related to the movement of the spine. This means the spine is better able to distribute and transmit force.
Contact Adara to learn how to liberate your movement.

What do these people have in common?
They’re all aging!
It’s never too early to think about aging well.
We know now that disease is not inevitable.
How well we age is influenced by a number of factors including what we eat, our movement and activity, stress management, sleep and rest, and the quality of our relationships.
At Adara, our expertise is in identifying the aspects of movement that can help you to maintain lifelong mobility, agility, and vitality!

Another way to say this is that the mind projects what it expects.
Because of this, we often react automatically based on our expectations rather than being able to remain open to the raw data so we can respond more appropriately.
This is what we’re practicing when we meditate. Becoming more attuned to the way we sense ourselves and our environment.
An extension of this is to pay attention to these things as we start to move...
Are you anticipating effort to be more than it actually is? Can you catch yourself and respond more appropriately and meet the demand rather than exceed it?
Use real time data to more accurately guide your movement. Visit our website for more information!

Movement and learning stimulate both Neurogenesis (the production of new neurons) and Neuroplasticity (rewiring of neurons).
This means learning a new motor skill or movement pattern effects not only our body but our brain.
Optimize your body and brain health with us at Adara!

Is that really the solution you want?
It is very likely that it is HOW you are going about something that is problematic.
Discontinuing a movement or activity that is causing discomfort will eventually lead to a shrinking of our world.
Let us help you explore alternatives so you can continue to participate in any activity and THRIVE!

“The freer and easier the movements of your head become, and the farther it can turn, the easier it will become to turn your whole body as far as it is anatomically possible.” (Moshe Feldenkrais, Awareness Through Movement).
The key is freedom, not force.

The eyes influence the muscles of the entire body, specifically the neck.
Too much time focused on a screen, therefore, has a systemic effect on our body.
It is possible to retrain the eyes in a way that can have a profound effect on your muscles and your movement.
Contact Adara to learn how!

A missing piece of the movement puzzle can create wear and tear on the body as forces are abnormally concentrated rather than evenly distributed through the body.
It can affect your ability to generate power and functional strength.
As we sense our movement, we can start to sense what’s missing.

This sort of ease happens when our actions involve the integrated movement of the whole body rather than the isolation of force to one muscle or muscle group.
We are witness to this when we watch professional athletes or performers. These people make great physical feats appear effortless.
To learn how to bring this approach to your movement and start to harness your personal power, contact Adara.
