I used to think eating clean and working out was enough.
But I was also spending hours on my phone, drinking wine every night, and calling it “me time” that I had “earned.”
I was disciplined in the gym but distracted everywhere else.
And I wondered why nothing was really changing.

You can’t out-train the habits that keep you stuck.
Real progress happens when you stop numbing, start moving more, and get honest about how you’re actually living between workouts.
It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing the right things consistently.
Which part do you relate to most: the wine, the scrolling, or the sitting too much, or anything and everything that “numbs?” Comment below!

Confession: even I don’t always love the workouts. (Especially when pushups are involved.)
But loving it isn’t the requirement.
Wanting to feel better, show up stronger, and live with more energy is.

For so many midlife women, especially those juggling big families, careers, and constant demands, the hardest part isn’t knowing what to do… it’s getting started when:
➡️ You’re waiting for the “right time.”
➡️ You’re hoping motivation will magically show up.
➡️ You haven’t found something you actually enjoy and that gets results.

Here are 3 simple shifts that can help you get unstuck 👇
1️⃣ Start smaller than you think. 10 minutes counts because consistency matters more than perfection.
2️⃣ Stack it with something you already do. Like pairing a walk with listening to your favourite podcast.
3️⃣ Focus on how it makes you feel, not just how it looks. Energy, confidence, and peace come long before visible changes.

You don’t have to love every workout but you will love how it changes your life. 💪
If you’re ready to start moving forward, I can help you find a rhythm that actually fits your real life. ❤️

I love initial discovery calls. I get to learn about the woman, her joys, her struggles. We talk about her fatigue, overwhelm, and the physical symptoms she is experiencing in midlife.
I also get to learn about her days and what keeps her moving, about her family, her job. We also chat about the amount of time she spends driving around to her children’s various extra curricular events, the energy that goes into her planning family events and school socials, the big home and garden projects that they are planning.
Occasionally a woman will come back and tell me that having discussed things with her family they have decided that she does not have the time, energy or resources to do this right now.
And what I really want to say is:
“You beautiful, incredible woman, you wet yourself when you sneeze at the grocery store, I think the extracurriculars can wait”
But I don’t.
Because that self sacrificial giving is what makes moms so special. That entire giving of themselves every day is supernatural level love.
I do wish they knew they were mattered so much that taking care of themselves is actually a necessity right up there with groceries and education and not somewhere after gardenia shopping.

The gap between who you are and who you want to be?
It’s built by the choices you make when no one’s watching.
Stop giving comfort the final say.
Choose what serves you long-term not in the fleeting moment.
Drop a 💜 if you are ready to choose you and the woman you want to become.

Nobody calls budgeting or tracking your spending “toxic behavior.”

So why do we treat tracking food any differently?
Ladies, you can’t change what you won’t look at. 💛

Tracking isn’t about restriction

it’s about awareness, insight, and radical accountability for your choices.

Midlife isn’t the end of your story it’s the moment you finally stop hiding.
Spent Friday evening in a tiny Niagara region village where my daughter has friends… I thought I’d be spending the night waiting alone .
But apparently, having the word ‘menopause’ on my truck is a great conversation starter 😂

Ended up chatting with different women about changing eyesight, shifting hormones, and all the unexpected ways perimenopause shows up.
Saturday was a blur of workouts, a beautiful wedding, and nana duty. And today, church and time with my kids.
I’m grateful for the strength and energy to do the things my heart and soul want to do.

Because eight years ago, I wouldn’t have had it
not the strength,
not the energy,
and definitely not the confidence to be seen and heard. 8 year ago me talking to a stranger about her libido and pelvic floor!!?? 😳

Your wellness journey isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s not even just about strength or longevity.
It’s about the confidence to stand in who you are,
to be seen,
to be heard,
and to take up space like you were always meant to. 💛

If that’s what you’re craving too : strength, energy, and the confidence to truly show up , that’s exactly what we do inside Ignite50.
You don’t have to walk this season alone.

The hardest step isn’t knowing something needs to change… it’s actually starting.

Midlife teaches us that the old rules don’t work anymore.

👉 You can’t ignore your body.
👉 You can’t shrink yourself into health.
👉 You can’t keep doing what worked in your 30s.

For years, many of us have been taught to fight our bodies: push harder, eat less, hustle more.
But real transformation in midlife starts when you learn to listen to, and trust your body again.

You don’t need to overhaul everything today.

Start small.
Fuel your body with one nourishing meal.
Take 5 minutes just for you.
Choose rest instead of pushing through.

Every small, deliberate choice is a step toward lasting transformation.
And your future self? She’s going to thank you big time. 🙌

What’s ONE small step you can start with today? Drop it below ⬇️

But is it actually cortisol?

👉 Puffy cheeks? Must be cortisol.
👉 Holding belly fat? Cortisol.
👉 Tired eyes? Cortisol.

Absolutely, cortisol and stress can influence fat storage and metabolism. In extreme cases (like Cushing’s syndrome), high cortisol absolutely causes “moon face” and central fat gain.

But for many women in midlife, what you’re dealing with isn’t “cortisol face” as a primary culprit.

What often plays a bigger role:
⚡ Under-eating protein
⚡ Decline in strength and muscle loss over time
⚡ Chronic sleep deficits and metabolic disruption
⚡ Perimenopause + hormonal shifts that favor more central fat

You don’t need a magic “cortisol blocker” supplement to reverse this.
You need the tools that research consistently supports:
Enough high-quality protein daily
Regular resistance / strength training
Prioritize consistent rest and sleep
Stress-management practices (not just “push harder”)

Don’t let the internet trick you into thinking your body is broken.

You’re navigating midlife .
It requires strategy, not fear.

It took me too long to learn this when I was trying to lose fat, build muscle and feel good again.
So now I will shout it from the rooftops! 👏
Your body isn’t broken.
You don’t need another diet.
You need fuel.
This is the way!
Midlife moms can eat to feel strong, lean, and energized again.
