Can we just say… GRANDE PRAIRIE ROCKS!! With over 1500 volunteers registered we can’t say thank you enough! This week we off loaded and cleaned over 2000 mats into schools across our community. We couldn’t have done it without the help of teachers, students, and games volunteers! All the athletes and coaches will be using our schools as their accommodation villages this weekend. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get to this point and we can’t wait to see the rest of you THIS WEEKEND 💥

Getting ready to kick off torch relay!

The 2024 Alberta Winter Games are coming and the city of Grande Prairie is getting ready to welcome over 2600 athletes, coaches managers and technical officials for the 2024 Alberta Winter Games.
Zone playoffs and zone selection events are getting underway. Check out the Sport Information page for the updated sport technical rules and a list of activities in your zone. All athletes MUST be selected in a Zone trial to be eligible to attend the 2024 Alberta Winter Games.

| Biathlon is a Nordic ski sport that combines both cross country skiing and rifle shooting. Individuals will ski to targets and shoot their rifles from either the prone or standing position. Targets range from 45-50 meters away and competitors will have 2-4 tries depending on the event to hit the target. Competitors with the most targets hit and crossing the finish line in the least amount of time will be the winner. For the Alberta Winter Games we will host Individual, Mass Start and Relay races in the sport of biathlon.

Calling all volunteers! The 2024 Grande Prairie Alberta Winter Games is coming to Grande Prairie from February 16 - 19 and they are looking for volunteers to help put on this amazing event.

SPORT SPOTLIGHT
🏹 ARCHERY 🏹


The Alberta Winter Games will host more then 60 athletes in Archery over the 3 days. Archery is one of the oldest sports that is still being practiced today. For the Alberta Winter Games, there will be target shooting with both compound and recurve bows. Age groups are also divided into Cubs, aged 12-14 and Cadets, aged 15-17. In addition to individual competition there will also be mixed team events for both disciplines.
