Kia Orana all, wow it's been over 2 weeks now, and we have finalized our wishing well wishes to all our athletes, team managers, coaches, Island Code Federations and not forgetting the community.

Thank you on behalf of the ASA President, Executives and the committees, we would like to extend our warm Meitaki Atupaka to all who has supported our team in preparation for the Cook Islands Games 2022, and also visiting our team whilst in Rarotonga during the game. Rest assured, more acknowledgement soon to be aired.

Dearest Maree Tuakura (Melbourne Vic, Australia)

On behalf of the Aitutaki SPORT Association & Basketball Association, we would like to sincerely acknowledge your generous support and sponsorship - funding Junior Simon Law’s return airfare from Brisbane to Rarotonga. Your assistance surely enabled us to have an elite player from Australia who is involved in basketball at the state level. Although he is in the Queensland Under 18 basketball team, we believe his being a member of our Open Men division team adds value to the quality of the team and hence, the competition. He surely did inspire the people of the Cook Islands during his tournament, with such skills that he has showcased both basketball, and Beach Volleyball audiences winning Silver. He has scored himself that golden role model card for many of our keen, young and upcoming basketball players. This opportunity level will also expose him to the Cook Islands Basketball Federation (CIBF) so he can be recognized and scouted to represent the Cook Islands in the future.

Meitaki atupaka once again to Strickland Upu, and also Ngatokoono Tekopua (Maine Nga Tekopua) for being so supportive towards Juniors journey, kia akameitaki ia te Atua no to kotou ngakau aroa.

Once again, meitaki atupaka no toou ngakau aroa e no to vaerua tauturu. “Te ingoa o te enua, punanga ketaketa.”

May God bless you and your family and may He bless your business and all the people that work in your business.

Te Atua te Aroa

Aitutaki Oe Vaka Cook Islands Games 2022

What a journey it's been, proud of all these humans and everything they've achieved. Sometimes we think medals are the measure of success in sports (well they are😂) but for us getting everyone out on the water, competing and taking in the experience was our biggest win. Every single one of us had our own personal challenges to over come and oe vaka helped bring out super powers within us we never knew existed💪🏾It's what I love about sports, that you get to see what people are capable of...even when they can't see it themselves🥰

We might paddle today for sport but oe vaka was the way of movement across the ocean for our ui tupuna. It's in our blood and bones and keeps us connected to our heritage, it's so much more then races and medals. Its self discovery, its finding the vibe, riding the right wave and feeling in tune with your team mates and the moana. I will carry this team with me always, you all make me super proud, I can't wait for each of you to see how amazing you really are through my eyes. We're off to a good start, let's keep going...

AOV Team Manager signing off✌🏾

Thank you Linda Ruamoana, President and your awesome committee for the commitment you've put in to make this possible for our future Oe Vaka tamariki, thanks for the write up, and the photos.
