And to wrap up the day, a weightlifting session thanks to the Cook Islands Weightlifting Federation. 85kgs on my backsquat, thanks to Wanaka holding my hand 𤣠Straight up, if I had known the total weight when I did those last sets, I can not say with confidence if I would have been able to make the lift! š The mind games are rife out here man! š

Just keep moving!
I'm nursing a sore ankle at the moment so today's Johnson's session was regressed. My focus was just to keep moving without aggrevating my ankle too much. I knew I could work out on it if i took it easy so I did, all was good.
Thank you to my sis Moe for this footage. I left the sound on because her encouragement helped me push through the excuses without overdoing it. Yes, i have a sore ankle BUT I just have to take it slower with the regressed movements, or do an easier movement working the same areas. What an incredible difference it makes to surround yourself with positive people ā„ļø
I'm going to keep repeating this over and over because some days I need to remind myself as well š
This journey will be uncomfortable, messy and unattractive but I'm here to grow, the glow up can come later lol Lets get out of the triple numbers on the scale first lol

This is especially true for every single person in the AKA'UKA TIME family. My little Lani Love has grown her confidence tenfold thanks to each one of these queens. While I took a break to film for aunty Kura (don't worry, my legs were assassinated at 12pm Johnsons š
) Melelani grabbed my phone to do her own filming. If you listen closely, she is talking to everyone as she goes past, having giggles and in another video she was even putting herself into frame to pose with her many aunties. All of this after she was on stage dancing with our Maidens. She knows, this is a safe space.
When we first started Aka'uka, she would be up on my shoulders for most, if not all of the class because she was overwhelmed. Slowly but surely, she spent less and less time on my shoulders. She watched each of these ladies, some she went to dance with and now, she still jumps on my shoulders but only when she wants to dance without actually dancing aka water break lol 𤣠She does the hand actions and I do the swing work. Seems fair š
She runs up on stage without being asked, she'll walk around and talk to people, she isn't stuck to my hip (or shoulders) and she's just thriving in this safe space.
So whatever journey you are currently on, keep striving ā„ļø You are inspiring someone to grow and I think that's pretty amazing. YOU are pretty amazing.

This morning's MABLE Form V class hit a little extra close to the hurl zone but we survived and we DEFINITELY left our souls on the floor š

I really enjoyed this session, reminded me that I love this sport. Just need to commit to learning it better. That baby bar was pretty damaging so, clearly I have a lot of work to do but its worth it for the rush. Thank you Cook Islands Weightlifting Federation for making these sessions available š

Today was a one and done kinda day.
I could feel a fibro attack brewing so off I went to a 1pm Johnsons class to put my lungs on the line š
Believe it or not, exercise is actually an amazing way to self manage the pains that come with Fibromyalgia.
Its crazy how exercise can make such a huge impact, in exchange for a good 45 minute blow out 𤯠The physical and mental difference is pretty amazing in general.
Anyways, tomorrow is a new day that will no doubt come with new challenges, and new wins. Plenty of wins to be had at the Weightlifting Training tomorrow, 5pm at the box if you're interested ;)

Someone told me many blue moons ago, that we make time for what's important. And he/she was not wrong š It just took me a bit to understand how to prioritize the not so important from the actually important. It's a daily work on actually.
My wellness journey AKA my road to milfhood š
is not just for weightloss or strengthening. It's also about forcing my introverted self, into very uncomfortable situations and helping me to manage my Fibromyalgia attacks as best I can. So when you see me do a triple workout, like today, it's not for likes or compliments etc. It's because I am making time for what is important. But why do I post about my journey? Well, this page was started to keep me accountable to a challenge I had joined earlier this year. And it worked! I lost a lot of weight and found an incredible support system in family and friends. I decided to keep it going for the same reason, to keep myself accountable to my goal and track my journey. I'm not there yet, slowly but surely.
I can not wait for the day, where I can sit down with Melelani and scroll through this journey, having reached a healthier lifestyle. Ahh the dream! š
I will get there.

Lets win the day!
This journey is not a pretty one, and it's actually a wee bit painful š
but this is where the growth happens. Outside of my comfort zone, all walls down and giving my all.
Johnsons Fitness 12pm class reminding me why I haven't lifted a bar in so long. Where can I order a new lower back 𤣠lol Puweeee slow and steady. That's where I'm at, and that's ok.
