❗Team Announcement 🇨🇰🤾🏽‍♀️❗️

For the first time since 2002, the Cook Islands will be represented by a Senior Women’s Indoor Handball Team at the IHF Nations Trophy Oceania Womens 2026 tournament.

🗓 10-14 September
📍Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, Wellington, New Zealand.

This tournament marks the first step in the qualification pathway to the World Championship, through the Asian Championship.

We’re excited to see the Cook Islands return after 24 years!! Kia manuia to our team! 🙌🏽🇨🇰

Team Oceania signing out. 🌏🏝️

What an unforgettable week here in Croatia! From day one, our Oceania brothers Handball Australia and the wider entourage were right behind us. Whether they could stay for a whole game or just one half, they always made the effort to cheer us on, wish us well, and remind us that we were never alone.

We're incredibly grateful for the friendships, support, and camaraderie we've shared throughout this tournament. It truly felt like one Oceania family.

The Cook Islands women's team and management have one more day in Croatia before we begin the long journey home. A huge meitaki ma'ata to Croatia and the IHF for hosting an amazing World Championships. It's been an experience we'll never forget.

We leave with hearts full of gratitude, minds full of new ideas, and excitement to share everything we've learned back home. We hope this is just the beginning of many more opportunities to grow the sport we love in the Cook Islands.

Day 5️⃣ here at the IHF Beach Handball World Championships! 🇨🇰🏖️

Today we take on Uruguay (10PM CKT) in the consolation rounds after a hard-fought battle against the USA yesterday. Every game has challenged us, stretched us, and taught us something new, and we're stepping onto the sand today full of optimism and believing that our breakthrough is coming.

We'll also have another match later this evening, with our opponent to be decided after this morning's games. Whatever comes our way, we're ready to embrace the opportunity.

Before today's matches we reflected on the story of David and Goliath. Like David, we know that victory doesn't come from size or reputation, but from trusting in God. We prayed that the joy of the Lord would be our strength, giving us courage, unity, and confidence every time we step onto the sand.

No matter who stands on the other side of the court, we hope our journey continues to show how great our God is. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to represent our islands and to show that even a small island nation can stand proudly among the giants.
