*KUMBA CITY COUNCIL REHABILITATES GENDARMERIE OFFICE IN KUMBA*

The Kumba City Council has refurbished the dilapidated roof of the Gendarmerie office in Njuki in Kumba Town.
This move is part of an effort by the Council to upgrade Security Infrastructures in the area.
The Mayor of the Kumba City Council, Greg Mewanu is determined to ensure that inhabitants of the city enjoy maximum security. #

*OPERATION "KEEP KUMBA CLEAN" INTENSIFIES*

The Kumba I Sub Divisional Council has launched its 1st edition of the Clean Neighborhood Contest, a campaign aimed at promoting hygiene and sanitation within the municipality under the theme "Clean Neighborhood, Our Shared Responsibility".
The contest is open to all 19 village/neighborhoods in the area.
Speaking at the launch, Mayor Eseme Moses Esembe explained that the goal of the exercise is to foster a competitive spirit among neighborhoods in maintaining their environment.
An independent jury comprising Divisional Delegates from concerned ministries, health institutions and civil society organizations will evaluate neighborhoods on criteria such as pigsty management, waste control, and sanitation. The contest aims to promote a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Winners will receive motivating awards.

The hierarchy and people of the Bakundu clan have with one voice conferred the Kumba City Mayor Greg Mewanu with a traditional title tagged to development.
The title "Tata Likondi Wa Bakundu was conferred on him by the Paramount Ruler of the Bakundus,Rt. Hon. Justice Benjamin Itoe during the 43rd congress of the Bakundu Cultural and Development Union ( BACDU) held in Konye recently.

*CLARION CALL FOR PROPER SANITATION IN KUMBA*

Inhabitants of Kumba have been called upon to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse as well as make frantic efforts to protect public infrastructure in the City.
This action will greatly compliment efforts made by the City Council to ensure the environment remains conducive for habitation.
The appeal was made by the City Mayor Greg Mewanu during the First Ordinary Session of the Council held on Tuesday March 31st 2026.
The City Mayor emphasized on the proper installation and regulation of refuse containers, stressing that all such containers within residential areas must be positioned at least three (3) meters away from road gutters and equally distant from ornamental trees.
With these measures respected, it is obvious that the sanitary conditions in Kumba will improve immensely.

*MAJOR RELIEF FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PERSONS IN KUMBA*

Physically challenged persons in Kumba City are experiencing significant progress in their welfare.
They are receiving remarkable assistance to facilitate their lifestyle.
The Kumba City Council has provided a group of Physically challenged women with a corn grinding machine as part of its contribution to supplement their efforts in food transformation .
The dynamic action to gather the women in this endeavor is
under the leadership of madam Franka Kong Epie Vice President of the Cameroon Network of Women with challenges.
The women are confident that with the support of the city mayor and the Kumba City Council, the objective of this project will be achieved.
The women have expressed their gratitude City Mayor, Greg Mewanu who is a major funder of their projects.

*THE VITALITY OF ANCESTRAL BLESSINGS*

In every tradition, reference to ancestors is a pivotal part of the lives of the people.
On this score the ancestors remain a source of blessings for prosperity.
It is in the light of this instituted belief that the people of Kombone Mission in Meme Division showered traditional blessings on the Kumba City Mayor Greg Mewanu to enable him discharge his duty with love commitment to the population.
The ceremony which held recently,
was rich in tradition, marked by cultural displays, sacred rites, and a strong expression of unity between the custodians of tradition and municipal leadership.
This symbolic gesture significantly honors heritage as well as reinforce the bond between the City Mayor and the people he serves
with respect for cultural values.

They Kumba City Council is accompanying the Muslim Community in the City to enable members enjoy a successful Ramadan Celebration .
The City Mayor Greg Mewanu recently visited the community providing some essential food items as rice, tin tomatoes , spaghetti and groundnut oil to grease preparations for the feast.
The community expressed its gratitude for the gesture.

*TAKING ADMINISTRATION CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE.... PARTICIPATORY DEVELOPMENT *

The people of Makata 3 neighborhood in Kumba have expressed their gratitude to the Kumba City Council for its deep concern for the welfare of the people in the area.
The Mayor of the Kumba City Council Greg Mewanu recently held a concertation meeting with leaders of the community to properly address problems confronting them.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Quarter Council presented a number of concerns affecting the community, notably challenges related to road infrastructure, water supply, electricity, and waste management.
To assure inhabitants of the area about concern for the community support to the community, the City Mayor also promised the installation of six solar street lamps for the six blocks that make up Makata 3.
Regarding sanitation concerns, particularly the heaps of dirt and waste in certain parts of the neighborhood, the City Mayor assured residents that they will be cleared within the shortest possible time. Meanwhile, he encouraged inhabitants to improve their waste management practices by separating organic waste from inorganic waste before properly disposing of them in public trash bins. # kumbaisalive # community development
