Our Story

The South West Argo-Pastoral Development Cooperative society abbreviated as (SOWAPDEV COOP) with objectives to offer

1. Improve Agriculture, Fishery Production, Animal Husbandry, Entrepreneurship among members, mostly youths.
2. Transformation of raw materials to finish products for consumers
3. Provide members financing at moderate interest rate for both investment and/or production purposes.
4. Encourage members to make regular savings for investment purposes.
5. Foster the economic and social interests of members.
6. Offer complimentary savings and credit services such as risk management, checking system etc.
7. Build the capacity of members and the community through educational seminars, workshops and other training activities for members and the community.
8. Provide financial intermediation services within Cameroon.

To become a member, you should

1. Be a Cameroonian except they have a waiver as provided by the law.
2. Not less than 18 years of age.
3. Be of good character.

Groups and other cooperatives may become members of the organization. Such groups shall be represented by one person in the organization.

Any member on the updated nominal list of members has the right:
- To participate in general meetings, decisions taken therein and vote taking place;
- To be elected to the organs of the cooperative society, subject to the conditions set forth;
- To use the services and facilities of the cooperative society in accordance with the purpose of the cooperative society;
- To consult the articles of association, internal rules and regulations, registers, minutes of general meetings, annual reports and accounts, investigation, verification and inventory reports;
- To withdraw from the cooperative in accordance with the OHADA Uniform on the Rights of Cooperative societies
- To be educated.

Membership shall entail the following obligations:
- Comply with the provisions of the Uniform Act on the right of cooperative societies, as well as the decisions taken by the General Assembly and the Board of Directors in accordance with the Act, national and / or regional laws to which the articles of association refer;
- Undertake to use the services and facilities of the cooperative in keeping with the commitments taken at the time of his membership;
- Not to join another cooperative society carrying out the same activity within the area of jurisdiction of the cooperative society;
- Subscribe and buy shares under the conditions defined by the articles of association;
- Pay contributions and fines imposed in accordance with the provisions of the Uniform Act, national and / or regional professional instruments to which the Act refers, as well as the article of association of the cooperative society;
- To attend meetings and take part in decision making;
- To show good cooperative spirit, inform non-members and encourage them to join;
- To bring out problems affecting the cooperative and look for solutions;
- To participate in cooperative projects both physically and financially;
- To attend educational meetings and seminars organized by the cooperative;
- To comply with the cooperative Articles of Association, the uniform act on cooperative and savings and loan cooperatives and its decree of application;
- To make use of the services of the cooperative;
- To assume liability for the debts of the cooperative society in case bankruptcy thereof;
