Courtesy visit of the United Nations Country Team to Mrs. Lydie Pongault, Minister of Social Affairs and Humanitarian Action, led by the Resident Coordinator, Mr. Abdourahamane Diallo.

On this occasion, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Government of the Republic of the Congo in addressing forced displacement challenges, and called for strengthened mobilization towards:
▪️ the resumption of repatriation convoys as a key durable solution
▪️ reinforced engagement with the regional CAR platform stemming from the Yaoundé Declaration (2022)

UNHCR also commended the hospitality of the Government and host communities, while emphasizing the need to further support their efforts.

Le Gouvernement du , en partenariat avec l’Union européenne au Cameroun le gouvernement Allemand , UNHCR et , lance le projet « Solutions alternatives au Camp de Minawao » pour renforcer la résilience, l’inclusion socio‑économique et la cohésion sociale. Co-financé par l'UE et BMZ, ce projet marque une transition essentielle vers des solutions durables, ancrées dans le développement local.

Deputy Representative for UNHCR covering Cameroon, São Tomé, Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, George Menze had a productive meeting with the UNICEF Country Representative in the Republic of Congo to scale up joint action for refugee and host community children.

Key priorities:

➡️Education & child protection in Bétou, Ngabe, and Bouemba
➡️Inclusion of refugee children in national systems
➡️Improved water supply for refugees in Bouemba

Together for every child’s safety, dignity, and future.

Garoua‑Boulaï – Inauguration of the Centre Polyvalent

Today in Garoua-Boulai, eastern Cameroon, UNHCR inaugurated the Centre Polyvalent, a strategic facility designed as an inclusive space serving Central African refugees and host communities.

The Centre aims to improve access to information, protection, education, empowerment and durable solutions, while strengthening social cohesion and the coordination of humanitarian and development interventions.

More than just a building, it embodies a shared vision of practical and sustainable solidarity.

Le partenariat entre le HCR et l’Université de Bertoua dans la région de l’Est au Cameroun prévoit l’extension de la bibliothèque universitaire dans le Centre Polyvalent de Garoua-Boulaï, renforçant ainsi l’accès à la documentation, à la recherche et à l’apprentissage pour tous.

Un espace commun pour apprendre, dialoguer et construire ensemble l’avenir.

Le HCR et l’Université de Bertoua unissent leurs efforts pour l’avenir des réfugiés et des communautés hôtes

Le HCR et l’Université de Bertoua ont signé ce jour un Mémorandum d’Entente visant à renforcer l’inclusion académique, la formation professionnelle et la recherche scientifique dans la région de l’Est du Cameroun.

Ce partenariat stratégique contribuera à faciliter l’accès des réfugiés à l’enseignement supérieur, à promouvoir la recherche sur le déplacement forcé et à produire des données utiles pour éclairer les politiques publiques et les solutions durables.

Investir dans l’éducation, c’est investir dans la dignité, la résilience et la paix sociale.
