A great time spend with Sifu zhou zhong fu who studied with great Wu Taijiquan masters under which the legendary Ma Yue Liang, in this location on the photo in Xiang Yang park, pretty close to were master Ma Yue Liang lived he used to teach and train.
Master Zhou Zhong Fu agreed to support the Eternal Spring institute regarding the Wu Taijiquan lineage and will be present at the once a year for a seminar and testing. Like that with the Yang Taijiquan lineages of Tian Zhaolin/Yang Shao Hou and the Wu line of Ma Yue Liang the Eternal Spring institute will have one of the most complete curriculums worldwide on offer. Wu Taijiquan seminars in name of the Eternal Spring institute outside of Madeira will be held by Sifu Kleber Battaglia, and Sifu Paolo Chilelli next to the Yang ones held by me and .

I couldn't help but smile when delving into master Ma YueLiang's writings on his 13 Tui-shou kinetic movements method, and noticing that he was also already paving the way towards Eternal Spring. ;)

Small Circle Celebration of Sifu Sergio’s 50th Birthday

Just returned from another inspiring study trip in Foshan! This visit was truly special as Sifu Gwok Wai Jaam hosted an exclusive upgrading course for all his instructors. For the first time, he unveiled the advanced concepts of his Chi-sau approach to the public. It was a mind-blowing experience, delving deep into the full Chi-sau training progression of his school, revealing never publicly disclosed before advanced concepts.

Sifu Gwok Wai Jaam's detailed explanation of the Sam Fa (Core/Essential Requirements) of Chi-sau showcased his incredible methodology. He skillfully presented all three forms of the system, highlighting how they integrate with Chi-sau and their specific angles and distances. I'm sure that all the people I will present it to will appreciate this approach, as they not only demonstrate effectiveness and simplicity but also a solid, logical foundation.

The first step into the level design for the institute is done

As so many people are asking about how the Eternal Spring institute will function and offer it’s services etc here a small post to explain a bit.

❗️keep in mind however that our first Event in the institute will not be happening before Jan/March 2023 Period, as we need ample time for the renovation among other things. The First Eternal Spring institute overseas Seminar however will be held on the 19th of November In Madrid Spain, the poster and info regarding that event was released some days ago here on social media and bookings are going fast.

So here some info regarding the diverse Services the Eternal Spring institute will offer for any of the systems and lineages available

❗️ps as we want to assure the highest level of quality of transmission the events at the institute will never go beyond 50 participants. However The mainland Europe Eternal Spring institute seminars where we will present certain parts of certain programs will not be capped.

When I moved to Mainland China after many years in Hong Kong, I started digging more into the internal schools of Kung-Fu and I started losing interest in what I believed to be Wing Chun. I thought I'd seen all there was to offer there and started to look elsewhere to fill some of the things I thought there were missing in the style. Until I decided to go and check for myself what was practiced in Foshan. And to my surprise, I found a world where people breathe Wing Chun and have a completely different level of understanding of what I was used to in the so-called Traditional Wing Chun practiced in Hong Kong.

Wan sifu's approach is an amazing style and he is an incredible martial artist like few you'll ever meet in your path, and his Wing Chun it's his own interpretation, based on his experience in many different martial arts and fighting experience, that brought him to create something very unique.

What I found in Foshan was something again very different from what I expected, but it made me realize that what arrived in Hong Kong was Grand Master Yip Man interpretation of what he studied in Foshan; yet again, another very unique and interesting approach non the less. But what I found in the birthplace of Wing Chun was the understanding of certain core principles and tactics that I didn't find before and that let me understand the core of this art to a different level. The Wing Chun knowledge and styles in Foshan are vast and deep, yet completely unknown to the majority.

This is not a post about comparing different approaches or claiming one to be better than the other, as each style I've studied has its own strength and weakness, and it's a unique and valid approach. This post is meant instead as an inspiration for someone to go beyond common beliefs and maybe come to the consideration that is difficult to judge without knowing, and that sometimes we look away from something and search for different things instead of trying to go to the source and see what was there, to begin with.

It's a post that tries to be inspiring, as inspiring was for me to meet this incredible martial artist and human being: sifu Gwok Wai Jaam. A man that managed to clarify any doubts I had for years and that managed to bring back the love I had, to even a higher level.

Special thanks go to sifu Jesper Lundqvist and his beautiful and amazingly knowledgable wife Joyce Zhang for the incredible support that gave me, and for the work they are doing to preserve this traditional art and make it survive for the next generations to come. In the hope that many will start looking back at what Wing Chun simply was and had to offer, before looking towards other directions trying to find something that probably was there already, or that wasn't supposed to be there for a reason...
