The breaststroke kick consists of four phases: recovery, foot rotation, propulsion, and glide. During recovery, slowly bring heels toward hips with knees at shoulder width or slightly narrower. Rotate feet outward into a "W" position to maximize water contact. The kick should follow a circular path with acceleration in the final 15cm, ending with legs fully extended in a streamlined glide. Practice with pool wall support to master the proper sequence.

Breaststroke Body Balance: Finding the Key to Floating in Water
When learning breaststroke, many beginners feel their bodies sinking constantly. This is often due to not mastering the fundamentals of buoyancy. The correct body position should be a horizontal float, with the head naturally submerged about two-thirds of the way, eyes looking at a 45-degree angle toward the pool bottom.
To practice, start by holding onto the pool edge with both hands, take a deep breath, submerge your face, and let your body float naturally. Once you can float steadily, try releasing your hands and maintain this position for 3-5 seconds. Remember to relax your neck and shouldersβtension will cause your body to sink. Itβs recommended to do this floating exercise before each practice session, as it is the foundation of mastering breaststroke.
Dolphin kick originates from hip-driven undulation. The wave passes sequentially from chest to ankles. Maintain 30-50cm amplitude with forceful downward press and relaxed upward motion. Underwater dolphin kicks require tight streamline with 2-3 powerful kicks before surfacing.
