The farmers are our hero’s. Meet Elena Gaitan, a leader in her community where she formed a cooperative of cacao and breadfruit farmers. She saw how her neighbors were struggling so she began adding value to the cacao growing in her region. Elena and Jungle Project teamed up in 2015 and planted 100s of breadfruit in cacao agroforestry systems to diversify income for the farmers and ensure and abundant future.
Thank you Elena for stewarding the land and her communities earth, we recognize you as our international women of the year. As well as all women, mothers, sisters, and girls.
