🕊️ In Loving Memory of Krik Parrel

It is with great sadness that Olympia Curaçao Archery Association learned of the passing of our fellow archer and dear friend, Krik Parrel, following a tragic boating accident this past Saturday.

Krik was a valued member of our Olympia family. He shared our passion for archery, our camaraderie on the field, and will be remembered for the person he was both on and off the shooting line.

As Head Coach, I was deeply shocked by this heartbreaking news. Moments like these remind us that our club is much more than a place where we shoot arrows. We are a family, and today we mourn the loss of one of our own.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Hilde, his children, family, and friends. May they find strength and comfort in the love and support that surrounds them during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Krik. Thank you for being part of the Olympia family. You will always have a place in our hearts. 🤍

Cesar Augusto Briceño Espinoza, I still remember the first arrow you shot and how quickly this sport became part of who you are. A father, a hard worker, and an athlete with a deep love for archery. I have seen your growth and I know your potential. We live in a world that celebrates medals, but what you showed here is something deeper. Commitment, courage, and the willingness to step onto the international stage. You did not come back empty handed. You came back stronger. Your time is now. New momentum is starting now!!!
Aruba… we hear you. And the wait is almost over. 👀🇦🇼

For everyone who has been asking:
“When is archery coming to Aruba?”

🏹The project has officially started🏹

I had the honor of meeting with the leadership of the Olympic Committee of Aruba, including Mrs Nicole Hoevertsz.

We discussed a bold and meaningful vision:

To establish archery as a recognised, sustainably governed, and actively competed Olympic sport in Aruba, contributing to youth development, community participation, and international representation.

And in a special moment to close the meeting, I was honored to receive the Olympic Committee’s emblem pin from Mrs. Hoevertsz, a symbol of trust, collaboration, and what lies ahead.

This is bigger than introducing a sport.
This is about creating opportunities, building a community, and shaping the next generation of athletes in Aruba.

I truly believe in collaboration—and seeing archery grow across the Dutch Caribbean is just the beginning of something much bigger than ourselves.
