Hyrox Athens, just saying what comes to mind here.. eight months after back surgery, I stood on that start line and honestly didn’t know what my body was going to give me. For me, today was never really about the time. It was about showing up for myself and seeing if I could trust my body enough to push again.
Today reminded me that you don’t always have to be at your best to have something to be proud of. Sometimes putting yourself back out there after something has knocked you down is the hardest part. But being able to push myself again was emotional. I don’t think I realised how much I’d missed feeling like I could do this again.
And I clearly missed competing too because I somehow managed to do an extra laps on both runs 2 and 3 but I’m going to let that one slide. I spent two weeks away from my son Hercules to come here and test myself and I wanted to show him I’ll never give up. After not being able to compete for so long, I felt a bit lost. So to have this community still show up, cheer me on and back me meant more than you know. I heard you, I saw you, and I felt it. The strength and endurance was there and without those extra laps, I know there’s a proper time in me.
To everyone who puts themselves out there and tests themselves, whatever that looks like for you, be proud of yourself. I see you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for never giving up on me. I guess I’ll have to book another one and find out what my actual time is.. but for now I hope my community and family are proud 🫂🤍
