Germany has been awarded the contract for the World Cycling Championships 2020 by the International Cycling Union (UCI). The venue for the World Championships will be the Velodrom in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg.

The Berlin Velodrome is the venue for the 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championship presented by Tissot being held from 26th of February until the 1st of March 2020. Those five days of competition on the 250-meter wooden track host the best athletes in the world fighting about 20 coveted titles and the rainbow stripes on their jerseys. The track in Berlin is home to a World Championship for the second time after 1999. Berlin is counting on Theo Reinhardt and Roger Kluge as their local heroes.

2019 they already defended the Madison title and the hopes are high that they will do so again next year. Also the 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championship presented by Tissot in Berlin are the last stop and highlight of the qualifications for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo. Athletes from more than 50 countries are expected to attend the 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championships presented by Tissot in Berlin, including numerous Olympic and World Champions.
