Being near water flips a switch in me.
I grew up spending my summers surrounded by lakes. To this day, being by the water feels like stepping into a different headspace. Something familiar. A part of home.
It gives me room to think.
And one thought keeps coming back: I don’t want rest to be something I squeeze in after I’ve exhausted myself.
I love so much about my life. My children. My work. The things I’m building.
I also want to be able to live that life without constantly running out of room for myself.
A holiday matters. So does an ordinary Tuesday.
Can I finish a thought? Eat without rushing? Have energy left for something I genuinely want to do?
I’m ambitious. I want to contribute, create, and be there for the people I love.
I want a daily life that leaves enough of me to enjoy those things, too.
I’m still figuring out what needs to change. Some of it is mine to decide. Some of it requires responsibility to be shared.
But I’m taking that question seriously.
What would need to change for an ordinary week to feel more like a life you can actually live?
