The 2026 touch rugby season has finally kicked off — and what a way to start with a brilliantly organised Capital Cup in Berlin. A huge thank you to for hosting such a high-quality tournament with plenty of full-time referees, allowing us to focus entirely on our game. 🤩
Our first match was against the team with probably the longest journey to the tournament: Touch Helsinki, who had travelled all the way from Finland. As is often the case in the first game of the season, we struggled a little at the beginning, but fortunately our defence was already working very well. Once we scored our first try, everything clicked into place and we went on to secure a convincing 9–2 victory.
The second group-stage match against the Belgian MXO team proved to be a much tougher challenge. Despite some strong moments, we eventually lost the game 2–9.
In the quarter-finals, we then faced the hosts, Touch Berlin’s first team. After a strong start and an early 1–0 lead, we were unfortunately unable to contain the well-drilled Berlin side in defence, and the match ended 2–11 in favour of the hosts.
However, this would be our final defeat of the day. We bounced back by winning the next two matches, defeating Berlin’s second team 7–3 and Utrecht 4–2, which secured us a strong 5th-place finish overall. 🌟
Congratulations to , who managed to defeat the Belgian MXO team in an exciting final.
Looking forward to Cologne Cup at on May 30! 🦩
