THE PERSON - THE FACE BEHIND YOUR SECOND SKIN...
After the NüPack Workshop we had an interview with our ladies. We asked each of them about their background, their experiences, how they felt during the workshop and if they are happy with the end result - their own NüPack backpack. We want to learn about their wishes and expectations. This is what Hoài said:
My name is Hoài, I am 37 years old. I’m living with my family in Hai Chinh Commune with my husband and my two children: a 18 year-old daughter and a 7 year-old son. My husband is a off-shore fisherman, he constantly go fishing for days on the sea. Besides doing the household works, I also work on salt production with other villagers. I joined the workshop with the hope of finding a new job which is more suitable to my health condition. Making salt requires a lot of hard works and mostly we have to works hours on end under the heat. Since joining the workshop, I grew the interest in being a seamstress. I am an apprentice tailor, that’s why everything is so new to me, before learning how to make a backpack, I could only sew a complete shirt. Making carefully a backpack and seeing it as a complete product make me so proud of myself.
