As a coach I always want variety in training, not just repeating the same shot. So I set the TENNIIX Pro to mix 20 different strokes, forehand, backhand, slice and volley.

How many of those strokes did you master?

The toss and contact point for your serve are the deciding factors in what type of serve you can hit.

1. Flat Serve — In front of the body, slightly to the right (for right-handed players). This lets you shift your full body weight into the stroke.
2. Slice Serve — Further right (or left for lefties) and closer to the baseline. This contact generates heavy slice rotation, pulling your opponent wide off the court.
3. Kick Serve — Slightly behind you and to the left.
Imagine tossing the ball toward the hood of your sweater.
This contact creates strong up-and-out rotation, making the ball tough to return.

4. Underarm Serve — The sneakiest of them all. Toss it slightly in front and low to execute a quick stroke that leaves your opponent no time to react. Fair warning: this one comes with a reputation.

These footwork tips are what separates beginners from professionals.
1. The Split-Step. Every single time your opponent hits the ball, you split. Small hop, land on both feet, stay on your toes. Beginners stand flat-footed and wonder why they’re always late.
2. Recover after every shot. You hit the ball, you move back to the centre using sidesteps. Don’t turn around or you’ll lose track of the ball and the opponent.
3. Small adjustment steps. When the ball comes to you, don’t take two big steps. Take five small ones. Small steps mean you arrive in balance, big steps mean you arrive in panic.

These 3 habits alone will make you look like a completely different player.

If you want more tips: I’m putting together a complete beginner‘s guide with everything your coach would teach you in the first 10 hours. Coming on the 19.09. Stay tuned
