The Dominica Athletic Association Inc. (DAA Inc.) proudly celebrates a historic showing by Team Dominica at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, held August 4-9 in Eugene, Oregon.

The two-athlete delegation, led by Coach Godwin Dorsette, delivered the nation's first-ever medal at a World Athletics U20 Championships, a milestone achievement for Dominican athletics on the international stage.

Addison James wrote his name into the record books with a bronze medal performance in the Javelin Throw, a landmark result that stands as the first World Junior medal in our country's history. Competing in one of the most competitive fields, Addison's achievement reflects both individual excellence and the growing strength in his athletics development.

Kerelle Etienne represented Dominica in the Women's 100m, advancing to the semifinal round, a strong showing against a deep international field and a clear signal of her rising potential on the global stage.

The team's success was underpinned by a period of focused preparation. From July 22 to August 2, Dominica's athletes joined a high-performance training camp in Eugene, training alongside teams from Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados, an opportunity to sharpen their competitive edge ahead of the championships.

Together, these results mark a defining moment for the sport in Dominica, setting a new benchmark for future generations of athletes and reinforcing the nation's growing presence in international track and field.

As the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships come to a close for Team Dominica, the DAA Inc. extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Coach Godwin Dorsette, Addison James and Kerelle Etienne on their outstanding representation of Dominica on the world stage. As they return to their respective schools, we wish them continued success in all their future endeavors.
