CAF Champions League

Abdeslam Bousri (born 28 January 1953) is an Algeria international former football forward who played for MC Alger. He was the goal scorer of the African Champions League in 1976.

Asante Kotoko won their first CAF Champions League title in 1970 against TP Englebert in Kinshasha.

Ismaily SC were eliminated from the 1970 African Champions League (African Cup of Champions Clubs) semi-finals by Ghana's Asante Kotoko. The first leg in Egypt ended in a goalless draw, while Ismaily lost the second leg in Ghana 2-0, exiting the tournament one step away from the final. It's worth noting that Ismaily were the defending champions.

Chérif Souleymane, also known as Chérif Soulegmane, (born 20 October 1944) is a Guinean former footballer who played as a midfielder. He is considered among the finest footballers Guinea has ever produced. He was named the France Football African Footballer of the Year and the African Footballer of the Year (the only Guinean to receive that honour) in 1972 while playing with Hafia FC in Conakry.

In 1974, Ghazl El Mahalla Club achieved a historic feat by reaching the final of the African Cup of Champions Clubs (currently the African Champions League) as the second Egyptian team to reach this stage, but they lost the title to the Congolese team CARA Brazzaville by an aggregate score of (6-3).

The African Cup of Champions Clubs 1969 was the 5th edition of the annual international club football competition held in the CAF region (Africa), the African Cup of Champions Clubs. It determined that year's club champion of association football in Africa. The tournament was played by 20 teams and used a knock-out format with ties played home and away. Ismaily SC from United Arab Republic won the final, and became CAF club champion for the first time, beating Congo-Kinshasa's TP Englebert, who made their third final in a row.

The tournament of 1968 was played by 20 teams and used a knock-out format with ties played home and away. TP Englebert from Congo-Kinshasa won the final, and became CAF club champion for the second time in a row for the first time this makes the record holders for the number of titles won.
