We are thrilled to welcome the bright stars of South Sudan 🇸🇸 to Egypt, where their presence has left a lasting impression both on and off the court. Despite a delay in their transit to Algeria, the team showed remarkable resilience and chose to make the most of their time by engaging with the local community.

During their short stay, the athletes paid a visit to a local court and joined our academy for a joint training session. Their decision to train with our young players and give back to the community speaks volumes about their character and commitment to the spirit of sport.

This is more than just basketball — it’s a rare and inspiring example of true sportsmanship. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Coach Madut for his leadership and humility. His values and mentality are deeply appreciated and respected by all.

South Sudan will proudly represent our motherland at the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Games, taking place from July 26 to August 8. This event marks an important step in promoting school sports across Africa and strengthening unity among nations.

🙏🏿🕊️ We honor the life and legacy of the late Coach William Deng Holnyang—a trailblazer in sports in Sudan and South Sudan. From his early days as a national volleyball and basketball player, Coach William proudly represented Sudan in multiple international championships across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas—including the World Military Games in China, London, the U.S., and Brazil.

As a coach, he led top clubs such as Al-Hilal, Nasser, Malakia, Nationals Engineering, and Yanyum. He also inspired young talent through grassroots work at Juba One Academy and Nimra Talata. Additionally, he made history with the Dove Queens and Nile Legends women’s teams, winning local titles and representing South Sudan regionally. In 2023, he accompanied the South Sudan Women’s Team as a part of the extended coaching staff, during which the team achieved their first-ever win for the country.

Coach William was a unique and influential individual in the lives of everyone who knew him. He left a legacy of skill, kindness, wisdom, and guidance in his family, community, and the basketball community in particular.

The federation sends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the basketball community at large.
