Adhering to approved standards and requirements grants divers high technical and engineering proficiency, delivering true value that optimizes both the training pathway and effort when choosing CMAS.

​In the recreational training pathway, other training organizations require completing the Rescue Diver course as a separate, independent step after the Advanced level before one can eventually progress to Divemaster. In CMAS, however, completing the Second Star level integrates these competencies together, qualifying the diver directly to reach the CMAS Three Star (Divemaster) level without needing to take the rescue course as a standalone, isolated program.

​In the technical diving sector, the traditional pathway requires that after completing the Advanced Nitrox course, a diver must first take the Decompression Procedures course, followed separately by the Extended Range course to reach a depth of 55 meters—representing two sequential training steps. Conversely, CMAS adopts an integrated training philosophy by combining the Decompression Procedures and Extended Range courses into a single comprehensive training program under the name Accelerated Decompression, effectively covering both required competencies in one step and providing precise efficiency for the technical diver.
