The Napoleon Fish, or Guardian of the Coral Reefs
The Napoleon fish is one of the largest and most important fish in the Red Sea, and its presence is an indicator of healthy coral reefs.
Large head with a distinctive hump
Bluish-green color with wavy lines
Can reach up to 2 meters in length
Lives up to 40 years
Feeds on sea urchins and starfish, which helps protect coral reefs from damage.
Very peaceful and beloved by divers, but touching or feeding it is prohibited.
The Napoleon fish is endangered and legally protected; catching it is an environmental crime.
