Donkeys are some of the most loving animals you’ll ever meet, yet they are often misunderstood.
Highly intelligent and naturally inquisitive, their cautious nature is frequently mistaken for stubbornness.

At the Happy English Farm School we’re lucky to have 6 rescue donkeys who truly brighten our days every single day.

We also have Melody, our mule, who joined us 6 months ago. She’s a fascinating mix of both donkey and horse, and it’s amazing to see her donkey traits and horse traits side by side.

Horses have 64 chromosomes
Donkeys have 62 chromosomes
A mule, which is a hybrid of a horse and a donkey, has 63 chromosomes
Because of this odd number of chromosomes, mules are almost always sterile and cannot produce foals.

Melody is only 3 years old yet she is so mothering with anything little. Shes the same with our baby donkey and its so lovely to see 🥰

Weve had an amazing early Christmas present 🎁 meet Juana Weve called her after our vets mum as she has been amazing and we all love her 😍 Jasmine is being an amazing Mummy 😍 Happy Christmas everybody
