Entering the third trimester, from week 29 to week 40, means the home stretch of pregnancy! Some of the discomforts of the second trimester will continue. In addition, many women experience shortness of breath and need to go to the bathroom more often. This is because the baby is getting bigger and bigger and putting more pressure on your organs. But don't worry, the baby is fine and these problems will ease once you give birth.

Body changes you will notice in the third trimester include shortness of breath, swelling in your ankles, fingers and face, difficulty falling asleep, the baby moving to your lower abdomen, etc.

The closer you get to your due date, the thinner and softer your cervix becomes (this process is known as effacement). This is a normal and natural process that helps the birth canal open during labour. Your doctor will monitor your progress as your due date approaches. Cheer up, the countdown has begun!
